In preparation for Father’s Day, we’ve recruited five of Rue’s most stylish dads to share their thoughts on fatherhood, fashion, and more. Read on and check back. Every other day, we’ll spotlight a new dad right here.

Rue La La VP Marketing

What’s your son’s name and age?
Briggs. He’s 4.

What’s your favorite thing about being a dad?
The massive increase of humor in my house. My son is funny. Sometimes he means to be, sometimes he doesn’t.

Do you have a Father’s Day tradition?
We spend the Saturday of Father’s Day weekend with the other dads in our lives – my dad, father-in-law, and wife’s grandfather – and then Sunday is reserved for just me, my wife, and my son. Usually my wife lets me sleep in, we go to my favorite diner, and then we’ll do something with Briggs.

How would you define your style?
I’m from Ohio originally, so probably some flavor of Midwest preppy. And my last decade on the East Coast has definitely instilled a love for sport coats and nice shoes.

Does that style influence how you dress your son?
Definitely. Since my wife and I get to choose his clothes (for now), my son wears a lot of the same styles as I do. More than once I’ve looked at his shirt or shoes and wondered if they make them in adult sizes.

If you could receive any gift from our Father’s Day gift shop, what would it be?
I rarely buy ties since we don’t have a business-formal dress code at Rue, so I’m always disappointed with my selection when I need one. This tie is great – it goes with a lot and has just enough visual interest.
