Matthew McConaughey Is Winning on the Red Carpet

This awards season, Matthew McConaughey has been on a roll – and I’m not just talking about his countless nominations for Dallas Buyers Club. He’s received standing ovations for his red-carpet looks, too.

British GQ rounded up eleven of the actor’s impressive looks, and from the checked three-piece suit at the London premiere of Dallas Buyers Club to the smoking jacket at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, McConaughey’s wardrobe has been anything but predictable. One common thread, however, seems to be a Dolce & Gabbana label, which is only natural considering he’s the spokesman for its The One cologne

Personally, I think McConaughey will stick with Dolce & Gabbana for the Academy Awards on Sunday – but who knows? Maybe he’ll surprise everyone with another Vivienne Westwood number. Either way, my bet is on him looking good.

Miss Piggy Says Yes to the Dress: Vivienne Westwood Designs Her Gown

The newest Muppet movie, Muppets Most Wanted, is rumored to end in wedding bells for Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog. And when it does, it’s said the stylish pig will be wearing Vivienne Westwood.

When Miss Piggy asked the sought-after designer what inspired her to create the gown in an exclusive interview with Harper’s BAZAAR, Westwood replied, “The dress is one of my favorite styles. It’s called the Court dress and is inspired by 17th-century English royalty and the court of King Charles II. It has been designed especially for you in a white pearl sequin fabric made from recycled water bottles. It’s the perfect choice for a royal show.”

Guess who will be taking her little cousins to this movie just to catch a glimpse of the dress? This writer, that’s who.

The Scoop on Pharrell Williams’s Grammys Hat

Arby’s got lucky last night. It’s not every day an award-winning singer dresses in a spitting image of your own logo.

But despite roast-beef-and-curly-fry similarities, Williams’s Arby’s-esque hat – a cartoonish park ranger-style thing which now has its own Twitter account – isn’t just crazy. There’s history behind it. According to Esquire, the Vivienne Westwood–designed hat is called a “Campaign” hat and has been around since the 1840s. In 1911, it was made the official hat of the U.S. Army. After Westwood debuted the hats in 1982, early hip-hop group The World’s Famous Supreme Team wore them often. As New York Magazine so maturely concludes, Williams could have simply been nodding to the early days of hip-hop.

Regardless, it’s funny. And 2014’s easiest Halloween costume has just been identified.

From Sex Pistols to Sex and the City: Vivienne Westwood Tells All

Cue your tablets. The fashion icon and activist Vivienne Westwood, who brought punk-rock style to the mainstream, is releasing an autobiography. Always one to speak her mind, we can bet this Dame will have some stories to tell.

Elle Dispatch writes, “According to early reports, the 72-year-old fashion icon will discuss her transformation from elementary school teacher to Sex Pistols headmistress, and include contributions from friends like Naomi Campbell, Jerry Hall, and even Wikipedia founder Julian Assange.”

Our only objection? Waiting until next October for it to hit the shelves.
