A new season is the ultimate excuse to add new pieces to my wardrobe. And this spring, I’m craving styles that are classic, yet fresh – no more winter drudgery here. Below, peep the five essential pieces I plan on scooping up for my seasonal spree – then get ready to take on a closet revamp of your own.

1. Neutral leather jacket: As good for spring as they are for fall, leather jackets add a just-right pop of edge. Lightweight but still warm enough to protect against breezy winds, this tan jacket will look great over everything. I love the striking contrast it adds to girly sundresses, and it makes jeans-and-a-tee even cooler. (Bonus points for the snazzy collar on this one.)

2. Something yellow: To me, nothing screams spring like a nice dose of yellow. It popped up all over runway collections for this season, and while the hue may seem like it’s not for everyone, there is definitely a shade for everyone. This breezy top in a soft, pale yellow is bright and sunny without being too in-your-face.

3. Printed pants: Printed denim is having a major moment. These pants add some fun flair, whether kept simple or dressed up for girls’ night. While they’re not denim, they have the trend down pat.

4. Bright maxi dress: Maxi dresses are the epitome of laid-back style, and I love this one in a vibrant orange. Outfit inspiration: It’s just begging to be paired with the aforementioned leather jacket.

5. Slouchy tank: If I could afford to buy a slouchy tank in every hue, I would. Wear them under a blazer, with jeans and a cardigan, or solo with cutoffs when summer hits full stride.

Got a dose of sartorial spring fever yet? I thought so. Just in time – our Theory Women and Theory Men Boutiques open Tuesday, March 26, at 11AM ET.

6AM: Early morning run. Resolutions aren’t so hard to keep when the music (literally) plays to your own beat.

7AM: Choose a room-commanding power suit (just follow GQ’s tips for each body type) and remember to add accessories. Cuff links and accent socks go a long way.

8AM: Grab a cup of coffee and get to the office early to crush it.

9:30AM: Client meetings all morning. Although this is run-of-the-mill, don’t forget to brush up on your meeting skills to keep things running smoothly.

12PM: Conduct a meeting with senior management. Just don’t forget the fundamentals of business.

1PM: Lunch with the guys. Get away from the office for a quick bite, a walk, anything to help you clear your mind for an hour or so. Studies show that leaving your cube helps you think outside the box.

2PM: Take a client call and work on proposals and paperwork. This time also usually includes tweeting. That’s right – businessmen tweet, too.

6PM: Happy hour with coworkers and dinner on the town. Swap your office attire for a more casual button-down before heading out (yes, this requires planning ahead). Go for something with a fun, printed cuff to stand out from the sea of suits.

Our Workplace Warriors: Men’s Suiting Essentials Boutique opens Saturday, January 12, at 11AM ET.
