Last year at the Costume Institute gala, which celebrated the opening of the Charles James: Beyond Fashion exhibitionmovie mogul Harvey Weinstein announced a restoration for the brand being honored. His wife, Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman, was favored to take the creative lead, but now it looks like Zac Posen has surpassed her as front-runner for the role.

Assuming Zac is hired as creative director, it would be a perfect fit. Just like Charles James, Zac is known for his highly coveted, celebrity-loved sculptural gowns. Not to mention, it wouldn’t be the first time Harvey hired the young talent – Zac also currently stars as a judge on Project Runway, where Harvey is an executive producer.

If Zac’s recent closing gown at New York Fashion Week is any indicator of things to come, this refresh is sure to be epic.
