Cowgirl Up: A Look at Kristen Stewart’s Chanel Ads

Kristen Stewart – a self-described tomboy who famously favors chucks over heels – might not be the first person you’d pick to front a high-fashion campaign. Yet, her sepia-tinged images from Chanel’s Paris-Dallas collection surfaced today, and the results are stunning.

Now, this isn’t the first time the actress has fronted a major fashion campaign (she spent two years as the brand ambassador for Balenciaga’s Rosabotanica fragrance). But when she was chosen as the face of Chanel, well, I had my doubts. After poring over these images, however, I’m jumping on the KStew bandwagon. I mean, let’s face it: head-to-spur Western clothing could come off as hokey, but she brings just the right gritty intensity the look needs.

So when it comes to Kristen Stewart, high-fashion model, I’m sold. (Along with anything SXSW-related.)

3 Reasons to Love Austin Right Now

Hot off the heels of South by Southwest, we’re not the only ones with our eyes on Texas’s music-happy city. Here’s why you should get into the mix.

Reasons to Visit Austin

#1. The music scene rocks. And not just because of this month’s ten-day SXSW music festival. Grab your cowboy boots and check out the Broken Spoke, the last authentic honky-tonk dance hall in Texas (and, in the words of the New York Times, “arguably the greatest honky-tonk of all time.”)

#2. Austin is a foodie town. Topping your to-eat list? Brisket at Franklin Barbecue. Just be prepared to show up at 8:30 and wait in line with 400 others until the hole-in-the-wall opens at 11. (It’s consistently named the best BBQ in America, so we’d say it’s worth it.)

#3. The street style rivals Brooklyn. Think that perfect mix of hipster and grunge. The style at SXSW is proof that the city’s famous “Keep Austin Weird” slogan applies to more than small businesses.

Ready to jet and need a place to stay? Settle in at Lone Star Court, a new retro-chic boutique hotel that epitomizes Austin and Texas Hill Country, then head out and explore.

What to pack: Workout clothes and sneakers are a must – you’ll choose from a variety of indoor and outdoor activities throughout your stay.

Escape Plan: My Agenda for Lake Austin Spa Resort

A sneak peek into a week at this Texas oasis

Come mid-February, I’m in dire need of a vacation – with a to-do list that includes enough time to relax, de-stress, and learn something new. Luckily, Lake Austin Spa Resort has more than enough to get my rejuvenation going without abandoning my New Year’s resolutions. Besides the extensive list of mind-body classes, there are spa treatments, cooking demos (I need to work on my pasta-making), and discovery classes (think astronomy and Tarot card reading) to keep me blissfully unaware of the outside world. Now all I need is more time in a week….
