Who says fashion has to be so serious? Not us – or our favorite Brits over at Boden. Take a cue from our cheeky friends and make standout prints your new thing. Here are a few ways to master the look.

Making a head-to-toe statement has never been so easy. Just throw on a printed maxi. Stick to simple accessories – a sleek pair of metallic sandals keeps things from looking too busy.

Don’t run away scared just yet. Combining prints is actually a piece of cake. Just follow these three rules:

  1. When in doubt, keep it simple. Stripes and dots are always a no-fail match.
  2. Stick to one color family. You can’t go wrong with prints in the same hue.
  3. Play with scale. Balance a bold-print skirt with a delicate-print top.how to wear prints

Stripe It
Forget what you’ve heard about stripes. When done right, they’re more flattering than you think. For added curves, go with wide, horizontal stripes. For a lengthening effect, try thin, vertical lines.

Dear summer, please don’t leave. (If you wish hard enough, it might just stay.) Although September may have a cooler forecast in store, nothing’s stopping you from rocking your most-loved summer pieces through to next year. Here are four timeless picks to wear now, layer for fall, and jet-set with this winter – all to your heart’s content.

BLG-1637 Summer Forever Sale

1. Strappy Sandals
The one item reserved for warm days? Sandals. And this nude pair will truly go with everything. Grab these now, and keep them on hand as easy-to-pack essentials when the Caribbean is calling.

2. Bright White Shoulder Bag
White just looks better in the sun. With a classic shoulder stap and minimalist detailing, this number will always be in style, at home or overseas. Plus, winter whites are always a do.

3. Striped Dress
Trends may come and go, but stripes are forever. As the unofficial print of summer, this sweetheart strapless dress is ideal for those last few sticky weeks of August – and just as appropriate on that winter getaway to Mexico. Pair it with booties and a leather jacket for even more mileage this fall.

4. Printed Shorts
So much more than go-to cutoffs, these tropical patterned shorts have summer written all over them. Rock these now with a tank and into early September with a sweater. And they’ll be the first thing your reach for come that south-of-the-border escape.

The fashion world may be looking toward fall (guilty), but there’s still quite a few weeks of summer left to enjoy. As one of the hottest months of the season, August is a great time to add those last few warm-weather pieces to your arsenal. You’ll get some good use out of them now and they’ll still feel fresh when you break them out next year. If these three items haven’t made their way into your closet yet, scoop them up now and rock them through to September – and beyond.

1. Striped Sandals
By now, your go-to sandals are probably on their last legs. Trade them for this modern yet totally timeless pair and every coordinating outfit will feel refreshed.

2. Cobalt Lace Dress
Summer is home to plenty of parties, and they don’t seem to be slowing down one bit. With 3/4-length sleeves and bright lace, this dress is ideal for starlit soirees. Plus, word on the street is that cobalt will be everywhere this fall. Add a pair of opaque tights and some booties for an instant year-round look.

3. Brushed Silk Skirt
Casual yet formal. Statement-making but goes with everything. This tie-waist skirt is an end-of-summer must. Tone it down for day with a tank and flat sandals. Or dress it up at night with wedges and a blouse. Keeping cool in those steamy temps has never looked better.

Okay. So you just bought a dress you love, and you wish you could get more use out of it. Solution: follow these tips and wear on – no style sacrificed.

Summer to Fall

1. Layer, layer, layer.
When the temps begin to drop, don’t immediately put your dresses into storage. Instead, let the cardigan become your best friend. Try a nubby boyfriend cardi belted over a breezy shift for the just-right mix of cozy and ethereal.

2. Cover up.
Ah, tights. They make every windy fall day that much better. Just slip on a thin pair during the warmer fall months and switch to a thicker, opaque style when the first chilly day sets in.

3. Trade flats for boots.
Leather or suede. No matter which combination you choose, these shoes instantly add cool-weather polish to the flirtiest of dresses. Start with booties, then work your way to tall riding boots with thick socks during the colder months. Your feet will stay nice and cozy while looking super stylish.

From colorblocked tops to gold stacked rings, here are the six trends you can incorporate into your wardrobe – all for under $50. Try one, or all six – just work them into what you already have hanging in your closet. Plus, every item can be worn practically year-round (hello, aviators and stacked rings). Go ahead – shop with abandon. Your wardrobe will thank you. Trust us.

The Summer Six

1. Retro-Inspired: Embrace your inner pin-up style with a high-waisted bathing suit bottom.

2. Colorblocking: An oversized sweater and shorts is a match made in heaven on breezy summer nights. Bonus: you can carry this piece into fall. Just add jeans and boots.

3. Neon: Of course you could go all out with a sheath dress, but all you need is a tiny splash of something bright to pull off the trend. Pair with a white tee and denim.

4. Aviators: Throw on a pair with absolutely anything. They’ll shade you from the sun – and look good doing it. Keep them on hand all year.

5. Cork: Lightweight and utterly comfy, these metallic flats with cork soles inject a little summer style into every step.

6. Stacked Rings: Mix and match or wear them all at once. These pieces work both day and night. Enough said.
