Is it just me, or does anyone else miss the grade-school days, when Valentine’s Day was an equal-opportunity holiday? You know, when you got a whole bag full of colorful valentines, regardless of your relationship status?

Well, we’ve decided to bring back the sentiment of a good old-fashioned greeting of indiscriminate love – with a stylish twist. Simply click one of the images below to download your valentine. Then print, customize, and send these out to your shopping buddy, significant other, best friend, or, you know, your favorite Rue La La writer… hint hint.

golden globes

We’re anxiously awaiting the Golden Globes this weekend – if only to see Tina Fey and Amy Poehler host – so to prep ourselves for all the red-carpet coverage (while looking like we should have been the hosts of E! Fashion Police), we’re following these Pinterest boards all week long.

1. Marie Claire has rounded up 2012’s best red-carpet looks in one inspiring board.

2. You can bet we’ll have our eyes glued to this Award Show Style pinboard from Glamour magazine.

3. The amount of Golden Globe glamour is seriously dreamy.

4. We can’t forget about the perfectly put-together hairstyles that grace every red carpet. Hello, new resolution for 2013.

5. Before we tune in, we’re making sure we’re on top of the celebrity gossip that every red-carpet reporter is sure to reference.

Ah, another year. A chance to start fresh, revamp a workout, kick a bad habit, or pick up a new skill. For many of us here at Rue, wardrobe renewal is at the top of our resolution list. And like all great outfits, we’re starting from the bottom up. While we all have our shoe go-tos (I’m partial to an old pair of square-toe leopard flats), resolutions are all about change. So, from striking patents to exotic fabrics, here are four ways to shake up your shoe routine.

New Year's Eve Lipsticks

While I’m a huge proponent of a classic red lip, it leaves a little something to be desired on a night that is notorious for letting your inhibitions go the way of the wind – New Year’s Eve. If we’re willing to go outside our style comfort zones and pile on leather, sequins, and fringe (just not simultaneously) to ring in the New Year, doesn’t it make sense to be a little more daring with our lip color, too?

Get in touch with your dark side. A deep crimson, could-be-mistaken-for-black lip instantly adds a sumptuous element to your look.

Peachy keen. An orange hue is unexpected without crossing into cringe-worthy territory. Stick to shades that remain in the coral family to rock this shade perfectly.

Seeing violet. A purple lip is not for the faint of heart – but it is for the fashion-forward. If you’re aiming to stand out this New Year’s, try swiping on this unique hue.

In honor of the holiday season, I asked a few of my favorite tastemakers to share their best holiday gifts (both given and received). Their answers may surprise you.

Tastemakers Talk Best Gifts Given & Received

CHRISTINA CALDWELL, Online Director, W magazine
“My favorite gifts are always the sentimental ones – my father engraving his vintage Rolex for me, the blanket a friend knitted for the birth of my son, and a very simple gold star necklace from my mom that was the first present my father gave her 35 years ago.”

NEIL BLUMENTHAL, Warby Parker
“Do genetic gifts count? I endowed my teething two-year-old son, Griffin, with a love of Philly-style hard pretzels. Best gift received? Easy. Optimus Prime Transformer when I was eight years old. I’d just seen the animated movie the day before, so I was primed for maximum gift impact.”
