Spring is all about embracing bold colors once again – and the colorblocking trend is the easiest way to do it. Go all-out with a bright shift dress in contrasting hues or ease into the style with a pair of wedges or a tote. Whatever your preference, there’s a way to incorporate graphic hues into your wardrobe this season.

1. A dress with colorful paneled patterns is a guaranteed showstopper. Just let it do all the talking by keeping your shoes and accessories neutral.

2. Step into some colorblocked heels for an easy way to integrate this trend into your entire wardrobe. Pair them with jeans, skirts, or shorts depending on how bold you want to go.

3. Don’t want to commit fully just yet? No problem – add a colorblocked tote to any jeans-and-tee outfit for a fashion-forward look without making it the focal point.

Our BCBGMAXAZRIA Boutique opens Monday, April 22, at 11AM ET.

With the slowly warming temps starting to gain momentum, it’s hard to not get into a vacation-like frame of mind. But if I can’t be flanked by palm trees on a daily basis, then donning Rio de Janeiro–inspired, retro jungle prints will have to do instead. To pull off this tropical trend (without going full-on “tourist”), mix neutrals with smaller doses of the energetic print. Note: Umbrella drinks are optional, but highly recommended.

A printed scarf is the simplest way to inject this bold pattern into an everyday look without going overboard. I paired one with a tailored white blazer for an urban vibe that can go straight from the office to a night out on the town. For a more casual day look, wear it wrapped around your neck over a cami, then when the sun goes down, fashion it into a halter top and slip on your favorite pair of espadrilles to take the night by storm.

Ready to commit full force? Jungle-fauna print pants are wildly cool when paired with a brightly colored sleeveless blouse, and best accessorized by some bossa nova playing on your headphones, a straw Panama hat, and arms piled with wooden bangles.

From sky-high pumps to box clutches, cuffs, and statement necklaces, it’s clear that Lucite accessories are a must-have this spring. I love the illusion of walking on air that a Lucite heel creates, or the look of crystals seemingly afloat within a bracelet or necklace. What’s especially cool about this trend is how it manages to make a bold statement without taking over, complementing virtually any outfit, day or night.

I tried this trend with a wide cuff bracelet featuring inset opaline crystals and loved how the girly jewels looked paired with a leather jacket. If you’re feeling extra daring, accessorize a see-through clutch with the contents themselves: an eye-popping phone case, funky shades, and your favorite lip gloss. One added bonus? Lucite is waterproof, so it’ll take you right from April showers to a day at the beach. And the award for most versatile accessory goes to…

Round, 60s-inspired sunglasses are coming back in a big way this spring and summer. Flattering on those with an oval-, diamond-, square-, triangle-, or oblong-shaped face (so… just about everyone), these frames can be worn confidently from dawn to dusk.

I don’t usually stray too far from my classic Ray-Bans, but I had to find out for myself whether this hot 2013 look would work for me. So I got in touch with my inner John Lennon and tried this bold trend. The verdict? I’m officially a convert:

Boasting black and gold frames with iridescent blue lenses, I chose this pair to modernize the look. My face is oval-shaped, and I found the thicker frames more flattering than the more retro rimless variety. But what to wear with this statement making-accessory? I went for an edgy day look and paired with a leather jacket, black skinnies, and a middle hair part, but I can’t wait to wear these babies with metallic swim pieces and spiked jelly sandals this summer.

Spring means warm weather – but it also means a veritable bevy of styles we’re dying to try for ourselves. So, consider this a primer to get you geared up to take on a whole season’s worth of new trends.

The Abstract Print
Why: These prints are anything but bland. In a range of colors and designs, they’re a departure from traditional patterns. Bonus: this trend is one that will carry over through the seasons.

How: Let the print do the talking. Pair with basic dark or neutral shoes and accessories.

The Suited Suit
Why: Suits are the ultimate power player, but now? It’s all about the tailoring. Make sure those lines are clean and (of course) flattering.

How: Girly touches – like a cute patterned shirt, statement earrings, or even a bright scarf - are key here.

Fit & Flare Dresses
Why: This classic shape is reminiscent of retro Americana. I can’t help but think Michelle Obama had a little something to do with it.

How: Rock it solo with pumps (for the warmer seasons) or pair with a cropped jacket. With all eyes on the skirt, make sure you’re not covering it with anything too slouchy.

Wristlets
Why: Ditch those huge carryalls for something more compact. After all, spring is all about going light.

How: We all know wristlets as the perfect accessory for a night on the town. This year, try them in a more casual setting. The challenge? Rifling through that huge tote for the bare essentials. But, as they say, less is more.

Pointy-Toe Pumps
Why: Round-toe heels may be classic, but opt for something edgier this season. Bonus points for bright, spring-ready colors.

How: In the past, pointy-toe pumps have been reserved for slacks and wide-leg jeans. Now? Try them with cropped skinnies, or even a skirt in the spring.

Druzy Crystals
Why: Not familiar with the term? “Druzy” is layers of crystal that form a mineralized crust – something commonly seen in rocks. That means the crystals have an extra dimension of shine that almost creates a sparkle effect.

How: There aren’t many rules here – this type of jewelry is subtle enough that it won’t overpower an ensemble. Just remember – these are not your standard girly jewels. These pieces have an edge.

Now that you’ve got the down-low, add some on-trend pieces to your wardrobe. Our Trendspotting: The Six Looks To Watch Boutique opens Wednesday, February 13 at 11AM.

From neon to tangerine and crossbody bags to the fabled PS1, the design duo that is Proenza Schouler knows a thing or two about wearable luxury. With soft leather, gunmetal or gold detailing, and carry-everywhere silhouettes, this already-coveted collection went one step further and added electric hues to its resume.

For those of us craving spring (and not even halfway through January), this collection is the perfect warm-weather wardrobe fix. Amp up your winter staples (like cable knits, dark denim, and the trusty LBD) with a hue-happy handbag, and watch your winter blues fizzle away. (You can thank us later.)
