In December, news broke that Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini would part ways with the Italian fashion house after more than a decade working for the label. Her departure was planned for February – but as of this week, Frida’s tenure has come to an abrupt close.

The timing is less than ideal, with a menswear show scheduled for January 19 and Fall 2015 collections debuting this February in Milan. The brand’s design teams will handle the nuts and bolts of producing both runway events since Frida’s replacement has yet to be chosen.

Who will take over at the luxury leader? Sure, the rumor mill has suggested big-ticket names like Riccardo Tisci and Joseph Altuzarra, but we’ll have to sit tight a bit longer to find out.
