The Best-Dressed List: Top Looks from July 6 to 12

Each Week, Our Fashion Editor Decides Who Deserves Top Honors

Olivia, Victoria, and Emma: Veteran style stars, each with a distinct (and flawless) look that we admire. We typically know what to expect from these fashion mavens, but they still keep us on our toes with offbeat outfit choices.

Though Olivia’s getup isn’t atypical, she switched up her beauty routine with an orange lip and freshly dyed blonde hair. Usually opting for darker shades, Victoria served up a lively colorblocked dress at Wimbledon. Meanwhile, the generally demure Emma stepped out in a macramé bralette in Paris. My opinion? Keep the surprises coming.

The Best-Dressed List

  1. Olivia Palermo in Dior at the label’s Fall 2014 couture show in Paris.
  2. Victoria Beckham at Wimbledon in a dress from her Spring 2015 Collection.
  3. Emma Watson in Valentino at the label’s Fall 2014 couture show in Paris.

Chopped: Kristen Stewart Rocks a New Pixie Cut

Following in the footsteps of A-list counterparts JLaw and Emma Watson, Kristen Stewart has chopped off her long locks – and it looks good.

The Twilight star and former sweetheart of Robert Pattinson debuted her perfectly messy pixie cut yesterday at Chanel’s Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2014/15 show in Paris. Her shorter style also sported a hint of orange, said to be the result of a grown-out dye job from the actress’s upcoming role in American Ultra.

Shocking? Maybe if it were Jennifer Aniston, but from Kristen Stewart, we’ve come to expect the unexpected.

Is Cara Delevingne the New Kate Moss? Karl Lagerfeld Thinks So

Lately, it seems like everyone is talking about Cara Delevingne. Why? Well, between perfecting the ultimate eyebrows, posting amazing Instagrams, and having a slew of A-list besties, she struts her stuff on some of the most revered catwalks in the fashion business.

This Just In: Anna Wintour Does Have a Heart

Or maybe just an aversion to crowded seating. Either way, Condé Nast’s artistic director did the unthinkable this morning at Valentino’s F/W 2014 show: She sat in the second row.

I’m just going to give you all a moment to process that, and then collect yourselves.

Good? Okay. Apparently, Anna voluntarily moved back to, get this, give her front-row seat to a writer (a writer, you guys) named Sarah Mower, who was reviewing the show for Vogue.com. And it gets even better. According to Bryanboy’s Twitter feed, Anna was asked by PR assistants to move back to the front but wouldn’t budge.

The devil wears Prada? More like the most selfless boss ever.

Has Fashion Week Brought Back the Popped Collar?

It looks like the ultra preppy aren’t the only ones rocking the popped collar these days. Thanks to street-style photos by Nam of STREETFSN, we’ve been seeing the trend at both Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks.

Although a popped collar brings the cotton polo shirt to mind, that isn’t what’s happening here. Instead, street-style photos show the collar of a button-front shirt strategically poking out from under a turtleneck sweater or a crewneck sweatshirt with a tied handkerchief.

Is it a clever way of beating the winter chill? Or is it just a passing trend that looks uncomfortably snug around the neckline? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Read more about Fashion Week’s popped-collar trend here.

Kim Kardashian Is Winning Over the Fashion World – We Credit Baby North

Kim has certainly had her fashion ups and downs. Okay, mostly downs. But it seems this reality-television star has changed her ways – or hired a new stylist. Either way, we like what’s happening.

Taking all the credit? North West. Before the little Kimye was born, it was all leather minis and Vegas-gift-shop-esque dresses. And those maternity outfits? I couldn’t even look. But post-baby? Floor-sweeping wool coats and couture.

Kim Kardashian's New Look

All she needs now is a nod from a big-deal designer and she’ll be in that oh-so-exclusive club with Becks and Coco Rocha.

The Butterfly Effect: Gaultier’s Collection Flutters Down the Runway

As a product of the 90s, I couldn’t help the nostalgia that ensued after spotting butterfly motifs at Paris Fashion Week (see also: Mariah Carey). While the Spring 2014 trend popped up mostly in hair and makeup, the real star of the show was Jean Paul Gaultier, whose entire couture collection took flight. He even told Vogue, “Life is a butterfly! So all the collection is that!”

A glimpse of this top trend brought me right back to a time when boys didn’t exist, but braces did – and on a scale of 1 to 10, you were only as cool as the number of butterfly clips on your head. Which means? You can consider this my nostalgia-sick pass to opt out of trying the trend this season.

But not before you check out Vogue for more Gaultier from Paris Fashion Week.

Instant Inspiration: 5 Pinterest Boards We Can’t Get Enough Of

A Tuesday roundup of our recent Pinterest obsessions

Paris Fashion Week is about to bid us all adieu. Tear. So let’s take a moment to fall in love (again) with each of these fashion greats.

1. We could say a lot of things about Alexander McQueen but, for now, we’ll just say this: hauntingly beautiful.

2. Can we have a closet full of Lanvin? We promise we’ll take good care of it.

3. Valentino. Because if Jackie O loved it, so do we.

4. Let’s be real. Is there any fashion logo more iconic than Chanel‘s “CC”?

5. We adore Christian Dior. (Who doesn’t?)

Can’t get enough Pinterest inspiration? Check out past boards that caught our eye.

Chitter Chatter

From P. Diddy's TV channel to Comic-Con, here's what we're buzzing about this week

Chitter Chatter

Check Out: The scene to be seen this week – San Diego Comic-Con 2013, in all its geek-chic glory.

Admire: The hottest shoes from Paris Fashion Week’s Haute Couture runway shows. We’d like to walk a mile (or ten) in some of these stilettos.

Know: Gwyneth Paltrow teamed up with Cynthia Rowley to release a limited edition “beach-to-street” collection. Nothing like ready-to-wear rash guards on Rodeo Drive.

Watch: P. Diddy’s new TV channel, launching this December. It’s set to stream music videos like the MTV of our heyday. (Does this mean we call him “Puff Daddy” again?)

Tell us what you’re buzzing about this week, or tweet us at @ruelala.
