Branch Out: Willow, the Other New Dating App

Just a few days ago we talked about the debut of Glimpse, a social media–fueled dating app. But guess what? There’s yet another one on the scene. Willow, out this week, encourages you to do something kind of unique in the digital courting world: hold a conversation. Instead of swiping through profile pictures and interest pages, you’ll browse questions that other users have posted and send them replies.

Personally, I like the idea. And after trying out my fair share of these apps, I’m thinking Willow just might be “the one” (to finally find me a decent date).

Glimpse: The New Kid on the Dating-App Scene

Ever wish those awkward Tinder convos weren’t part of the whole modern dating thing? Well, you’re not alone. Meet Glimpse, a just-launched app that connects people on Instagram by using shared hashtags, locations, and events.

You probably never thought that a #YOLO obsession could find you a soul mate, but Glimpse begs to differ, pairing prospective couples that share the same mantrasUnlike other social dating apps, this one helps you find partners with common interests, not just those in the same location.

The best part? Minimal creep factor involved. If anyone wants to strike up a conversation, they’ll need your approval. Once you give the go-ahead, chat away about important things, like the hilarity of that #TBT you posted last week.

If you ask me, this has “newest mobile phenomenon” written all over it. And those #FBF baby pics get the whole embarrassing-photos issue over with right away.
