#CastMeMarc: Label Picks New Face via Social Media

Last night, ultra-cool label Marc by Marc Jacobs announced that it will be selecting the face of its latest campaign through a social media “casting call.” Yes, you read that right – one of us mere tweeting mortals might just skyrocket to glossy-paged stardom.

The audition process is pretty straightforward. All you have to do is snap a picture, hashtag it with #CastMeMarc, and post it to Instagram or Twitter. So expect your feeds to get slammed with artfully staged selfies over the next few days. I mean, who could resist the opportunity to join the ranks of Victoria Beckham, Sofia Coppola, Miley Cyrus, and the Fanning sisters? Not this writer.

Now, go get that selfie game on point. The “casting call” ends April 9.

Say Hello to the New Face of Marc Jacobs: Miley Cyrus

In the past year, Miley Cyrus has made some interesting (to put it nicely) style choices. And I say that as one of the few people who actually had high hopes for her newly acquired edgy style. I mean, her nude-and-black mesh dress at this year’s punk-themed Met Gala? Flawless. But then, she broke out a latex bikini at the MTV Music Video Awards. And after that it was a parade of ill-fitting onesies, booty shorts, and grills.

And just when she had about lost me, she took to the Fashion Group International’s 30th-annual Night of Stars in a backless emerald gown. It was jaw-dropping – and I mean that not in a her-performance-with-Robin-Thick way, but a good one.

Kittens, Diamonds, & Leotards: Miley Cyrus’s AMA Performance

The highlight of Sunday’s American Music Awards? Miley Cyrus, obviously. This time, her performance included a two-piece cat print leotard and a massive CGI image of a kitten in outer space, which mouthed the lyrics to “Wrecking Ball” as she sang and even cried diamonds at one point. Admittedly one of her stranger performances, this one is sure to be remembered for a long, long time.

No Twerking Allowed: One California High School Bans the Suggestive “Dance”

Twerking has officially joined the ranks of “freaking” and “grinding” at one California High School. The AP reports that this sexually suggestive dance – if you can call it that – has been banned at Aliso Niguel High School in Orange County. Students caught twerking on campus or at school dances could be barred from future dances for the rest of the school year, and, perhaps worse, have their parents notified about the incident. (Can you imagine what that letter must say?!)

I know twerking has been around for awhile, but I’m going to go ahead and blame Miley Cyrus for this Footloose-esque moment anyway.

Check Out: Which former Bachelors and Bachelorettes have stayed together (or, more accurately, broken up). Wonder if Chris and Des will be one of the few to make it work?
