Easy and breathable, it’s a safe bet you’ll be living in lightweight cotton button-fronts this spring and summer. But resorting to the same solid shirts over and over again can get boring. So, if you’ve got a closet full of solids – or if you’re just looking to shake things up a bit – here are the three patterns to work into the rotation.

3 Patterns Guys Need This Spring

1. Geometric: Consider this your baby step into the world of patterns. Your best bet is to seek out a small, repeating print like dots, hexagons, or interlocking circles. The goal is a print that blends from far away. Just add chinos and loafers and you’re set for the office – or drinks at the country club.

2. Floral: Men’s florals are big right now. To ease into the look, try a print with a subtle white background. Wear it under a sport coat with jeans to keep it tame. Or go bolder and style it unbuttoned with a white tee and shorts – like a more sophisticated alternative to the Hawaiian shirt.

Chances are, you button up your shirts day in and day out without ever really considering all the thought and work that went into their creation. If the button-fronts you’re shrugging on are from Virginia-based Ledbury, know that deliberate decisions have been made in terms of where to place the buttons, how to prevent the collars from flopping over, and what materials to use.

The founders of the company got their technical tailoring know-how by working with a London pro. View the video below to see how they put that knowledge into practice and what they’ve done to ensure their shirts are a cut above.

Our Ledbury Boutique opens Thursday, June 18, at 11AM ET.

That one pair of jeans you wear for every occasion? Give it a bit of well-deserved rest. (Seriously, it must be just about falling apart.) When it comes to all the different denim washes and cuts, there’s a time and place for everything. But don’t panic. Here’s the breakdown of what pair to wear where and how to style it right for the occasion.

Men's Denim by Occasion

Date Night: An evening out with your significant other (or latest conquest) calls for a pair of relaxed or boot-cut jeans in a dark blue hue. Play it cool by adding a graphic tee and blazer or go all out in a button-front and sport coat.

Casual Friday: When it comes to working denim into your office look, stick to dark, narrow-leg styles. Pair your jeans with a button-front. Tuck the shirt in – because hey, you’re still at work – but roll the sleeves for a more laid-back vibe.

The Weekend: This is where you can break out your lighter, distressed styles. Just throw on a graphic tee, Henley, or hoodie. Add a pair of canvas or leather sneakers and hit the bar to watch the game and have a few brews with the guys.

Our Men’s Denim for Every Occasion: Date Night & More Boutique opens on Sunday, April 20, at 11AM ET.

The final season of Mad Men premieres tonight. So let’s take a moment to wax rhapsodic about the series that’s been making waves since it first aired in July 2007. The emotional creative pitches. The smoking, the drinking, and the sex. And yes, the oh-so-dapper style of Don Draper and the whole Sterling Cooper crowd. The show may be in its final stretch, but the influence of its classic suiting? That’s not going away anytime soon. Here’s how to make that Mad Men–inspired look work for you.

How to Dress Like Don Draper

The Suit: Keep it dark. Charcoal, navy, or black if you’re going all out. Always pair with a crisp, white shirt. And add a sharply folded pocket square if you’re feeling extra dapper.

The Tie: Don’t get too trendy. Stick with classic diagonal stripes or a geometric pattern. Make the look fresh and current by picking a bold, punchy color.

The Shoes: This is where you can really put your own stamp on the ensemble. Keep your kicks classic with a twist. Leather oxfords with colored soles or laces. Derbies in high-shine patent leather.

Most importantly, remember – you can still be your own man. Pick up a hint of that Don Draper vibe, but don’t turn into a literal carbon copy.

If chocolate-covered bacon taught us anything, it’s that unexpected combos can really hit it out of the park. So, this month, pull two items from your closet that you’d never dare wear together – your precisely tailored blazer and your worn-in graphic tee – then, dare. And watch as everyone else follows suit.

Here’s how to do it right.

How to Pair a Blazer with a Graphic Tee

On top: Pick a tee with a solid base color and strong graphic. (Leave it untucked.) Then add a blazer in black, navy, or grey.

On bottom: Your best bet? Denim. Go for a fail-safe dark-blue wash or wear black narrow-leg jeans for a bit of rock ‘n’ roll edge.

On your feet: Play it cool in trendy sneakers. And if you want to up the level of polish, finish the look with leather or suede chukkas.

Want to shop the look? Our Graphic Tees & Blazers: Wear Them Together Boutique opens Tuesday, April 1 at 11AM ET.

Brooks Brothers. You know the name. It’s synonymous with foolproof style, tailoring, and every kind of suiting essential. This brand has more than earned its icon status – it’s been making the world a more dapper place since 1818. Two of its most influential contributions? Read on.

Brooks Brothers

The Ready-Made Suit (1849)
Call it a result of the California Gold Rush. Fortune seekers didn’t want to wait on tailors, so Brooks Brothers seized the moment and introduced the first off-the-rack suits.

Non-Iron Shirts (1998)
The search for wrinkle-free ends here with the launch of the BrooksEase – the original 100% cotton, non-iron shirt. Just toss in the washer and dryer and go. There’s no need to dry clean.

What will the brand pioneer next? The never-wash chino? The holeproof sock? We’re all ears.

So, you got hitched. Congrats. Now that you’re settled into married life, let’s talk your new in-laws. They’ve invited you over for dinner. Brie. Chicken piccata with broccoli rabe. Maybe some rice pilaf. Chardonnay. And your number-one goal? Impress, at all costs. Here’s what to do.

1. Dress “dressy casual.” Dark denim with a cleanly pressed button-front and blazer says I want to impress you, but I don’t want to out-dress you. They’ll appreciate that. No one wants their son-in-law to show up in a tracksuit (or a full suit).
