If you’re anything like me, you gravitate toward neutrals. But there’s no better time than now to inject a little color into your wardrobe. After all, your glowing summer skin is primed to showcase this season’s best brights.

Most Coveted 6-16

  1. Ella Moss Maxi Dress. Side slits and lightweight crepe make this crimson number a breezy no-brainer.
  2. Marc by Marc Jacobs “Rock” Watch. Balance bold prints and colors with simple metallic accessories like this rose-gold boyfriend watch.
  3. Stella McCartney “Falabella” Clutch. Soft florals and an edgy chain-link trim play up the most vivid of hues.
  4. Sophia Webster “Riko” Sandal. Don’t be afraid to introduce even more color. These lace-up heels stand out in all the right ways.

The almighty one-piece wonder. You know what I’m talking about – the dress. That throw-on-and-go instant outfit that makes late nights and early mornings possible. We all have our go-to LBDssheaths, and maxis, but there’s always room for one more. Right? Here are some that a few of Rue’s best-dressed associates are currently coveting.

Dresses are those one-piece wonders that do (almost) all the work for you. But luckily, you still get to pick out a killer pair of shoes. Peep the tips below for the answer to the question, “What shoes should I wear with this dress?”

1. The Tailored Sheath
Polish. Poise. Keep that image going by pairing this work-ready number with the clean shape of a classic pump, slingback, kitten heel, or even a chic ballet flat.
Avoid: Ankle boots. They’ll visually crop your legs at an awkward length.

2. The Maxi Dress
Maxi dresses are the easiest and breeziest of summer ensembles, so naturally, they pair well with flat, comfortable sandals. But if your maxi’s a little too maxi? Among other solutions, a great pair of wedges (in summery cork, perhaps?) is the most fashionable of fixes.
Avoid: Pumps. They’re too dressed up and fussy for this casual style.

3. The Cocktail Number
Short hemlines. Playful shapes. You’ve got a recipe that calls for heels. So pull out a pair of ankle-strap or T-strap stilettos and keep the visual interest going from head to toe. Since you’re showing off some leg, you don’t have to worry about the straps cutting you off at the ankle.
Avoid: Flats. They’ll make your legs look shorter and downgrade the fancy factor.

4: The Black-Tie Gown
When glamour combines with a floor-grazing hem, always go with heels. Strappy stilettos let your toes peek out, show off your pedicure, and put just a little bit of extra skin on display.
Avoid: Wedges. They’re too beachy and casual for such a swanky dress.

BLG-1386 Boutique-Support--Dresses-by-PersonalityPersonal style? It’s about more than being trendy. I’m a firm believer it should mirror your personality, too. So whether you’re a hopeless romantic or a go-with-the-flow type, peep the best prints, colors, and shapes that will convey your character at first (stylish) glance.

The Total Classic: They’re called classics for a reason. LBDs, seamed sheaths, and asymmetrical silhouettes can carry you from day to night effortlessly.

The Romantic: Soft tones, sweetheart necklines, and floral prints? Just style with a simple clutch and classic flat sandal, then let date night commence.

The Modernist: Chevron prints, colorblocked minis, and bold stripes will put you on the fashion front lines.

The Queen of the Evening: Floor-length gowns, intricate detailing, and dress-up fabrics like silk and chiffon will have you red-carpet ready in no time.

The Glamour Girl: For your next night on the town, break out the fitted, the sequined, and the (oh-so-sultry) bold hues. Paint the town red.

The Free Spirit: All you need to achieve the hippie-chic look? A high-low hem, breezy maxi, or tie-dyed print.
