Each Week, Our Fashion Editor Decides Who Deserves Top Honors

Both on and off the red carpet, celebs continue to favor a clean white palette. From film premieres to sidewalk strolls, this pared-down look provides a blank canvas for trending silhouettes and accessories.

It’s Back: Charles James Brand to be Revived by The Weinstein Company

Mid-century glamour took center stage at Monday night’s white tie and decorations–themed Met Gala. Honoring American couturier Charles James and his glamorous designs, the red carpet was filled with celebrities in sweeping ball gowns and dapper tailcoats. So it’s pretty good timing for The Weinstein Company to announce they’re setting out to relaunch the defunct Charles James brand after licensing it with the option to buy.

Harvey Weinstein’s wife, Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman, and her brother, Marchesa CEO Edward Chapman, will serve as creative consultants on the project.

With these industry heavy hitters at the helm, will ball gowns be the next big thing? Only time will tell – but I’d recommend dusting off that corset in the meantime.

That Perfect Dress? Yours. (And It’s Marchesa!)

The Rue holiday party is fast approaching, and the entire office is abuzz with one seemingly simple question: What are you wearing? But – as any girl can tell you – that question is most definitely not simple. Finding that perfect dress is far easier said than done.

Unless, of course, you have the help of, say… a couture designer. Like Georgina Chapman of Marchesa.

That’s right. We’ve teamed up with luxury charity auction site Charitybuzz – which has raised more than $65 million for nonprofits worldwide by auctioning exclusive access to the world’s biggest celebs and brands – to offer a fashion lover’s dream experience: an intimate shopping and styling experience with Georgina herself.

Included? A dress from Marchesa’s line (which Georgina will oh-so-expertly style), a custom fitting with an in-house seamstress, dress delivery, and more.

Finding that perfect dress is suddenly yesterday’s news. And better yet, net proceeds benefit Rose Children’s Home in Delhi, India, a charity which provides a long-term, safe haven – as well as education, healthcare, and livelihood skills – to abandoned and vulnerable girls under the age of 18.

Now, that is glamour you can feel good about.

Personal Styling by Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman opens Monday, December 10, at 11AM ET.
