We all know (and love) Kate Hudson. When she’s not teaching us How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, she’s busy collaborating with Ann Taylor. Not only is she the face of the beloved brand, but on occasion, she designs for it as well. Just last summer she created an all-white collection for the label, and this April she’ll be debuting a new capsule collection of five LBDs. And with names like The Romantic, The Late Nighter, and Best Actress, it seems there’s a style for every event on the social calendar. Can’t wait until these black beauties hit stores? Preview the collection here, and then start RSVPing to those invites (I know I will).

Here at Rue, we have LBDs on the brain. (Our 10 Ways to Wear: The Little Black Dress Boutique opened today. Just saying.) So when we spotted the queen of candy-colored ensembles embracing her dark side, we just had to share.
Katy Perry pulled out a short, sparkly number with a schoolgirl twist for the Tokyo debut of her new album, Prism. Refinery29 is calling it an “all-smiles version of our favorite morbid preteen, Wednesday Addams.”
Now, I’ve never been one to channel Wednesday Addams’s or Katy Perry’s style, but this is one look I may just have to swipe.
Enjoy these last few weeks of relaxation – when fall hits, it’s on to a jam-packed agenda (we’re so ready). One way to make that hectic schedule a bit more manageable? A do-it-all LBD that works with everything from concerts to fall weddings. All you need is three pairs of shoes and a few extra baubles.
Admit it: statement jewelry can be intimidating. But just because it’s big and bright doesn’t mean it has to be reserved for special occasions. Here’s how to incorporate the bold necklace into your everyday wardrobe.
The almighty one-piece wonder. You know what I’m talking about – the dress. That throw-on-and-go instant outfit that makes late nights and early mornings possible. We all have our go-to LBDs, sheaths, and maxis, but there’s always room for one more. Right? Here are some that a few of Rue’s best-dressed associates are currently coveting.
I love a good LBD just as much as the next girl, but sometimes it’s necessary to shake things up – especially during the holiday season, when there are nightly events to attend. To spruce up your party dress rotation, check out these straight-from-your-favorite-glossy options.
A little leather is always a good thing – trust me. A favorite on the Spring runways, leather insets work best when done in black (or oxblood), and they’re the perfect way to add a little unexpected edge to an otherwise simple dress. (Just go light on the jewelry.)
The high-low dress
Yes, it’s been called the “mullet” dress, but unlike the ’80s haircut, a high-low hem works for all party situations – casual and cocktail. An added bonus? It’s a classy way to show off those gams.
The jumpsuit Gwyneth, Cameron – they’re both wearing it on the red carpet. No longer just for discos (although few can rock a jumpsuit quite like Jerry Hall), this all-in-one, ’70s-inspired style is making a party comeback – just leave the Farrah Fawcett hair at home.
With cool weather, football games, and the upcoming holiday season on my brain, I’ve added quite a few things to my fall wish list. Whether I need a cozy collegiate-inspired sweater for game day or a wool shift dress for just about anything, our Brooks Brothers Boutique is fueling any and all additions to my must-have list.
2. Brooks Brothers Navy Corduroy Skirt
Bringing a cozy feel to the office is definitely a to-do this season, and this skirt puts a feminine twist on the corduroy trend while still being work appropriate.
