What do two former accessories editors do when they leave the print-magazine world? Start an online magazine-slash-shop called Editorialist, of course. With all their insider know-how, we knew Kate Davidson Hudson and Stefania Allen would have some pretty epic style tips. Like what to pack for fashion month abroad – in London, Milan, and Paris.

Editorialist Kate Davidson Hudson and Stefania Allen
How far in advance do you start planning your packing list?
We wish we were more organized, but it’s typically a mad dash a week before.

Do you pack outfits for specific events?
Yes! Organization is key when it comes to fashion-month packing. We usually lay out an outfit for each day and pair a different shoe and bag with each look. We always bring extra accessories and jewelry so we have something to play around with when we’re there in case we change our minds.

Be honest. How many bags do you bring?
Too many to admit to.

What are your in-flight essentials?
We always need our phones, headphones, computers, Valentino tote that fits everything, Balenciaga leather jacket, Proenza Schouler scarf to stay warm, and comfy Chloé ballet flats.

Grab your passport and chicest luggage. Then shop Kate and Stefania’s picks in our Fashion-Capital Style: Curated by Editorialist Boutique, which opens Thursday, September 17, at 3PM ET.

ELLE Editor's Selections

I’m thinking “utility” in terms of color this season, too – clothes and accessories in tones like beige, camel, army green, and grey look simple and effortless. Surf-inspired wear also feels fresh and fun for the summer months. Embrace tie-dyes or watercolor printed sandals – infusing color into your look feels right if it has more of sun-washed, surf aesthetic.
