Read on to see how (and why) she got this party started.

So, how did the Select Summer Fridays come to be?
I started Bijules jewelry in the club. I have always organized events and parties. Living in the moment is part of why Bijules can claim nearly eight years of sales — innovation in style and fun. I used to wear two of everything because I knew my peers and fellow partygoers would appreciate the look — but also the moment that we were sharing — and [want to] buy one. The “single-finger fit, multi-finger look” bar ring was born from this idea that I am not alone in my interests, and sharing them builds community and friendships.

Why Fridays?
This summer I wanted to relax a bit. I am ALWAYS working. Summer Fridays is a New York City corporate exhale when workers can leave the office at 1 or 2PM. A lot of my friends wander aimlessly through the city with nothing but drinks on their mind, so I created Select Summer Fridays to embrace this quest for my fellow thirst quenchers. The roof of Le Bain in The Standard is a perfect venue to showcase the city skyline and blazing sunsets. If rain threatens (as it has on many Fridays), then we retreat downstairs to the disco ball Jacuzzi, so people can relax and chill with us either way. We will be rooftop from 2-8PM every Friday ’til September.

What’s the SSF crowd like?
Every party of mine is unique and different. This last Friday was a beautiful mix, full of beautiful people. So [my friend] Khalym was sporting a new flat-ironed ’do, a half tee and blazing orange skirt, while I was running around in a micro leather mini with zips and crop top complete with a cross bone body harness from Bijules, my jewelry line, and a black bikini from Nycked, my swim line. I wore the black sneaks I designed for my Vans/Nycked collaboration. These events are also opportunities for those who sell something to put it on display. If you are a real city person than you always have something to sell.

What’s the general vibe of the party?
The vibe of these parties, first and foremost, is chill. Cool mixed with nonchalance and confidence. I hope people will take a beautiful experience away from the parties and events that I host. People just need to take themselves a tad less seriously. Khalym Schell from stylesight.com is our weekly resident selektor/DJ. Her music is a soulful blend of original R&B, European classics from any era, and an overall eclectic playlist of smooth and sexy.

What do you get from hosting these events?
I love my life. I want people to know that because it’s not an impossibility. We all measure success differently, but at some points these differences can meet, either in the club, on the roof, in the hot tub, or in the streets. We all intersect and share these special moments together and I, for one, benefit fully from knowing I am responsible for that [with Select Summer Fridays]. Perhaps meeting me on the roof influences a woman to purchase a Bijules nail ring or she hears of Katie from good-peoples.com and begins working with her. Happens all the time!
