Charitable Fashion: Jimmy Choo Designs Shoes to Benefit Fukushima

Thousands of people still remain displaced after the 2011 nuclear disaster in Fukushima, Japan. So, following his recent visit to the country, Jimmy Choo decided to take action.

The shoe designer announced last Friday that he has created six pairs of shoes made from local Fukushima materials, like Aizu cotton and Kawamata silk, and by using artisanal techniques native to the region. Each one-of-a-kind design is meant to shine a spotlight on the stunning craftsmanship of the area, and the proceeds will be donated to local organizations that help those affected by the tragedy.

Get Your Hands on Victoria Beckham’s Wardrobe

First Heidi Klum and now Victoria and David Beckham – these celebs are donating their clothes for a cause. In Victoria and David’s case, it’s to aid typhoon relief efforts in the Philippines. While Heidi picked out a few choice items, the Beckhams are basically cleaning house. They’ve picked out a truckload of their previously worn clothes and shoes and shipped it all off to a London charity shop.

InStyle UK is reporting that the donation includes hundreds of Victoria’s shoes (look out for some gently worn Jimmy Choos and Manolo Blahniks) in addition to pieces by Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana, and more. Plus, there are a bunch of David’s baseball caps – if you’re into that sort of thing.

The items went on sale today, but don’t expect the charity shop to ship – if you’re not in the UK, you’re a bit out of luck when it comes to snagging the goods. (Anyone else kind of want to hop a plane to Heathrow ASAP?)
