Be the Best-Dressed Hostess: Thanksgiving Outfit Advice from a Rue Stylist

You’re brining the turkey. Pies are in the oven. And that stack of potatoes is ready to be mashed. But your outfit? It’s the one thing you’ve left up to chance this Thanksgiving. Lucky for you, Rue stylist Alexandra R. has some expert advice for what to wear on Turkey Day.

Rue Stylist Outfit Advice for ThanksgivingThe almighty sweaterdress should be the go-to Thanksgiving outfit for a busy hostess. “Ditch the heels and wear your sweaterdress with comfortable smoking slippers or flat ankle boots,” Alexandra advises. If you’re looking to offset the inherent casual nature of a flat shoe? “Dress up the look with a big statement necklace.” Even with an apron on, you’ll still look chic.

Thanksgiving with an Edge: Outfit Advice from a Rue Stylist

From the huge turkey dinner to post-meal lounging, Thanksgiving is all about comfort. If I could wear my pajamas all day, I would. But at my house, holidays are a big-extended-family kind of affair, so I have to look presentable.

My go-to tends to be a flowy dress – Rue stylist Caroline M.’s pick – but this year, I want to try something different. So I checked in with another Rue stylist, Chrissy B. for some expert advice on how to infuse my look with a little more edge while also keeping comfort a priority.

“A cozy sweater, boyfriend jeans, and flats,” Chrissy recommended. “You’ll look like you made an effort, you can move comfortably, and that turkey-filled belly is well-hidden.”

If that’s not something to be thankful for, I don’t know what is.

Yes, You’ll Have Seconds: Thanksgiving Outfit Advice from a Rue Stylist

Thanksgiving. It’s the most anticipated feast of the year. With three weeks to go, I’m already daydreaming of my mother’s pecan-and-raisin stuffing. Food abounds, but given the acutely calculated average of just 4,382,834 calories per Thanksgiving plate? Style… doesn’t.

Having a difficult time picturing myself in anything but an oversized sweatshirt of shame, I consulted Rue Stylist Caroline M. for a little expert advice.
