<p>Awards season is well underway, and if you were slightly more obsessed with the red carpet arrivals than the actual shows (guilty), then you&#8217;re in good company. From the hair and makeup to the sheer nail polish, both the <a title="Rue Recap: Golden Globes Red Carpet" href="http://www.ruelala.com/blog/2013/01/14/2013-golden-globes-red-carpet/" target="_blank">Golden Globes</a> and the SAG Awards saw four distinctly similar beauty trends – and bonus: they&#8217;re all easy to mimic (without a team of experts).</p>
<p><strong>1. Barely-There Makeup</strong><br />
Celebs like <a href="http://www.elle.com/beauty/golden-globes-2013-hair-and-makeup#slide-2" target="_blank">Kate Hudson</a>, <a href="http://www.elle.com/beauty/golden-globes-2013-hair-and-makeup#slide-3" target="_blank">Sienna Miller</a>, and <a href="http://www.elle.com/beauty/golden-globes-2013-hair-and-makeup#slide-4" target="_blank">Rosario Dawson</a> rocked a fresh, clean face at the Golden Globes with minimal makeup and glowing <a href="http://www.ruelala.com/blog/2013/01/29/determine-skin-type/" target="_blank">skin</a>. Less time spent getting ready in the morning to achieve a red carpet look? I&#8217;m in.</p>
<p><strong>2. Retro Waves</strong><br />
This is probably the biggest trend of awards season so far. With deep side parts and bouncy <a href="http://www.ruelala.com/blog/2012/10/10/rue-how-to-beach-waves-fall/" target="_blank">waves</a>, stars like <a href="http://www.elle.com/beauty/kelly-osbourne-sag-awards-2013-best-red-carpet-hair-and-makeup#slide-4" target="_blank">Amanda Seyfried</a>, <a href="http://www.elle.com/beauty/golden-globes-2013-hair-and-makeup#slide-8" target="_blank">Tina Fey</a>, and <a href="http://www.harpersbazaar.com/beauty/jessica-alba-golden-globes-2013-best-beauty-looks#slide-10" target="_blank">Jessica Alba</a> all flaunted healthy-looking, no-fuss strands. Sport loose curls like theirs and your typical Friday night outfit pays homage to old Hollywood glamour.</p>
<p><strong>3. Deep Lipstick</strong><br />
A bold pout was a major trend last fall (remember the <a title="Yes, You Can: Pull Off Fall’s Burgundy Lip" href="http://www.ruelala.com/blog/2012/10/02/yes-can-burgundy-lip/" target="_blank">burgundy lip</a>?), and celebrities like <a href="http://www.elle.com/beauty/golden-globes-2013-hair-and-makeup#slide-11" target="_blank">Jessica Chastain</a>, <a href="http://www.elle.com/beauty/golden-globes-2013-hair-and-makeup#slide-12" target="_blank">Isla Fisher</a>, and <a href="http://www.elle.com/beauty/kelly-osbourne-sag-awards-2013-best-red-carpet-hair-and-makeup#slide-10" target="_blank">Claire Danes</a> carried the look straight on through to 2013. The quickest way to an A-list look is accomplished with a simple swipe of <a href="http://www.ruelala.com/blog/2012/12/27/new-year-new-lipstick/" target="_blank">lipstick</a>.</p>
<p><strong>4. Neutral Nails</strong><br />
<a href="http://www.ruelala.com/blog/2013/02/04/mani-monday-ombre-manicure/" target="_blank">Bright</a> nails have been a staple on red carpets past, but this year it was all about the pale pink and sheer polish. <a href="http://fashion.telegraph.co.uk/galleries/TMG9831248/8/SAG-Awards-2013-red-carpet-nail-trends.html" target="_blank">Jennifer Garner</a>, <a href="http://fashion.telegraph.co.uk/galleries/TMG9831248/1/SAG-Awards-2013-red-carpet-nail-trends.html" target="_blank">Kerry Washington</a>, and <a href="http://fashion.telegraph.co.uk/galleries/TMG9831248/5/SAG-Awards-2013-red-carpet-nail-trends.html" target="_blank">Jennifer Lawrence</a> all flaunted nude polish at the SAG awards and proved that bold isn&#8217;t always best. Paint your own nails in a light hue and you&#8217;ll be a total convert (chips won&#8217;t show!).</p>

<p>Awards season is officially here, and after last night&#8217;s Golden Globes, it&#8217;s safe to say it started with a bang. While the night&#8217;s top moments belonged to <em>Les Misérables</em>, Ben Affleck&#8217;s <em>Argo</em>, and one very glittery Jodie Foster, let&#8217;s be honest &#8211; the red carpet was the real star of the show. Here are some of my favorite looks:<em><br />
</em></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.eonline.com/photos/7357/2013-golden-globes-arrivals/247722" target="_blank">Claire Danes</a>: </strong>The <em>Homeland </em>star looked gorgeous in a bold red Versace gown. Totally flattering and structured in just the right places, this gown made the brand new mom one of the best-dressed of the night. (And yes, you heard right &#8211; she&#8217;s just a month removed from giving birth.)</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.eonline.com/photos/7357/2013-golden-globes-arrivals/247897" target="_blank">Anne Hathaway</a>: </strong>Before picking up the Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture award, the <em>Les Misérables </em>star arrived in a sparkling white Chanel gown. The sleek, slim-cut shape was femme without frills &#8211; a perfect counterpoint to her pixie cut.</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.eonline.com/photos/7434/best-dressed-at-the-2013-golden-globe-awards/248834" target="_blank">Jessica Alba</a>: </strong>Perhaps one of the forgotten best-dressed of the night, Jessica Alba showed up in a strapless coral number and a blingy statement necklace. I loved the coloring &#8211; with her complexion, she pulled off that coral easily.</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.eonline.com/photos/7434/best-dressed-at-the-2013-golden-globe-awards/248062" target="_blank">Kerry Washington</a>: </strong>It&#8217;s not hard to make the <em>Django Unchained </em>star look beautiful, and when she opted for a neutral Miu Miu &amp; Chopard gown, she reminded us that sometimes simpler is in fact better. Shimmery embellishments and some saucy sheer accents upgraded the straight shape, making the simple gown into something eye-catching.</p>
<p>Some other favorites: <a href="http://www.eonline.com/photos/7357/2013-golden-globes-arrivals/247898" target="_blank">Taylor Swift</a> looked surprisingly grown-up in a purple Donna Karan Atelier gown, <a href="http://www.usmagazine.com/red-carpet/olivia-munn-at-the-2013-golden-globes-2013131" target="_blank">Olivia Munn</a> aimed for understated in a Giorgio Armani number, and <a href="http://www.eonline.com/photos/7434/best-dressed-at-the-2013-golden-globe-awards/248620" target="_blank">Julianne Hough</a> went all-out with cascading gold studs. After an ultra glamorous night like this, there&#8217;s only one thing to say &#8211; awards season, I missed you. (Only 41 days until the Oscars!)</p>
