Try Your Luck: Introducing the FENDI-ing Machine

The clever crew at FENDI just struck pure genius. With a great play on words and an even better take on “fast fashion,” the luxe fashion house has coined the very first ”FENDI-ing Machine.”

So it’s not actually a machine, but rather a trendy pop-up store located right in the heart of NYC’s fashion hub, SoHo. However, customers can run in and snag a 2Jours or baguette from shelves that resemble large vending machines, complete with keypad and all. They’ll also be greeted with game-room window displays upon arrival, such as a claw-like machine clutching the coveted Buggie bag. The Karl Lagerfeld–inspired version of this Furby-looking bag is rumored to have a wait list 600 people deep (proof that it’s in high demand).

Now, I’ve never had much luck with arcade games. But when they involve this season’s most talked-about accessory? I’m willing to give them a second try.

Most Coveted: A Peek at This Week’s Boutiques

By Nicole Andrew, Rue La La Fashion Editor

It’s Monday. You haven’t had your latte yet, and you don’t have a clue what to wear. The solution? First, coffee. Then, grab any shade of neutral. From bright white to ecru, these light earthy tones work together seamlessly. Add a delicate silver bracelet and you’ll be out the door in no time.

Most Coveted: A Peek at This Week’s Boutiques

  1. tyler böe Cashmere Cardigan. A neutral-hued cashmere sweater is a must for going from the outside heat to air-conditioning.
  2. Links of London Caged Heart Bracelet. Add a feminine touch to your oversized boyfriend watch with this sweet charm bracelet.
  3. FENDI ’3Jours’ Shopping Tote. Stay chic and conceal all of your essentials with this coveted white carryall.
  4. Theory Khaki Short. Tailored and yet still perfectly casual, these basic shorts can pull double-duty any day of the week.
  5. Balenciaga Leather Wedge Sandal. Clean lines and crisp white leather make these espadrilles ideal for any minimalist at heart.

Pack Your Baguette: Karl Lagerfeld Hotel to Open in 2017

It’s difficult to imagine the design genius behind two of the most innovative fashion houses falling behind where trends are concerned. Well, I’m here to inform you that the impossible has happened. Between Palazzo Versace in Australia and Armani Hotel Dubai, hotels designed by fashion bigwigs is hardly a new idea. But, as of earlier this month, Karl Lagerfeld has agreed to follow in his peers’ footsteps. That’s right – the Karl Lagerfeld Hotel, a 270-room, 20-story high-rise, is set to open in Macau, China in 2017.

Fashion on the Fly: Watch FENDI’s Runway Show by Drone

Elbowing through crowds. Darting from show to show. Not anymore, at least where FENDI is concerned. Today, the Italian label will be broadcasting its Fall/Winter 2014 show in Milan by drone. That’s right – flying above the runway, the tiny little robot will take aerial pictures with a high-definition camera. The best part? Those photos will be immediately visible on the show’s livestream. Meaning you can watch the show in sweats, from the comfort of your own couch. Take that, Anna Wintour.

Catwalk? At FENDI, It’s More Like a Goatwalk

You read that right. At FENDI’s menswear show in Milan on Monday, models walked a runway covered with – you guessed it – long-haired goat fur. Or maybe you didn’t guess it. Regardless, we’d call it the oddest thing we’ve seen all week, but Diane Keaton‘s Golden Globe rendition of “Make New Friends” took that cake by a long shot.

Would You Wear This? FENDI’s Furry Friends

Every few seasons or so, the fashion gods – ahem, Karl Lagerfeld – get together to test us. You know, to prove that we still bow down to their brilliance. Remember Chanel’s ankle packs? Yeah, like that.

Snag Your Own Fendi Bag Bugs While They’re Hot

I’ll be the first to admit that Rue associates like to dive headfirst into some strange trends. But these latest accessories from FENDI – each with its own name and personality – seem more like something swiped from a Tim Burton set than a runway. The wonderful truth of fashion, though, is there will always be someone willing to try anything.

So, as New York Magazine: The Cut writes, “brace yourself for waves of these little companions to start dangling off the arms of the street-style mob come February.”

Bravo, Karl. You got us again.

Visit The Cut for more on these furry creatures.
