What Dad Wants: Gift Picks from Our Men’s Editor

With Father’s Day less than a month away, it’s about time to start corralling together a few gifts for the man who taught you how to be a respectable adult. To help? We enlisted Rue Men’s Editor Cassandra to choose three items from our handpicked Father’s Day gift shop that she knows her dad will love.

Take a look, then feel free to steal her ideas (we won’t tell).

Papa’s Got a Brand New [Insert Gift Here]

Need an idea for Father's Day? Here's what Rue Associates have planned

Father's Day

“Dad’s known to break out the air popper for movie night. Never a dull moment!” –Krysten M., Event Producer

“Dad is the grill master, but sometimes the weather doesn’t cooperate. This pan would be ideal for those not-so-perfect days.” –Nicole L., Coordinator, CRM

“Dad always makes me breakfast smoothies when I visit. This blender is sure to keep the tradition alive.” –Kasey R., Assistant Event Producer

“Not only did I learn everything I know about cooking from my dad, but we also share a love of cooking gadgets. Looking forward to all the delicious paninis to come!” –Ellen G., VP, Talent

“My father-in-law and I share a passion for wine. He always has a glass with dinner, so this chiller would be a perfect gift for him.” –Katie D., Junior Designer

“My father and I share a good sense of humor – especially when it comes to movies like this classic.” –Eric G., Corporate Development

“My Dad almost always drinks his beer with ice (it’s never cold enough!). These would chill it to the perfect temperature, without watering it down.” –Brianna L., Junior Copywriter

Our What Dad Wants: Sports, Cooking, & Art Gifts Boutique opens Tuesday, May 28, at 3PM ET.

Find the Right Gift for Dad: This Father’s Day Chart Shows You Where to Start

It’s my experience that many dads (full disclosure: I only have one, so I may be slightly biased) have a whole lot of a few things. Baseball hats. Ties. The same wool sweaters from that one store he’s shopped at since he was 18. One reason being, he knows what he likes, or – ahem – what he thinks he likes. And the rest of us take his enduring, but age-old, style as our gift-giving cues.

In an effort to think outside the obligatory tie box, use this chart to find your starting point. Whether you decide Dad’s in need of luxe loafers from a label he’s never tried, a new watch, or a bundle of socks (because he never buys them for himself), we’re confident this year’s best-gift award will go to you.
