It’s official. The chief fashion critic of the New York Times for the past 15 years, Cathy Horyn, has handed in her letter of resignation. Cue collective weeping from style followers everywhere.

Fashionista reports, “While The Times‘ Styles section has not named an official replacement for Horyn, it has made two hires in recent weeks: first reporter John Koblin, who took the place of Times fashion critic Eric Wilson after he departed for InStyle, and just last week, former Style.com deputy editor Matthew Schneier, who may in fact be Horyn’s replacement.”

Fashion Week is just days away, giving the soon-to-be-confirmed replacement the chance to capture Cathy’s readership without missing a beat. Will they be received without critique? We doubt it. But dry your tears and ready your Kindles – Cathy has plans to write a book about the history of fashion journalism.

Sounds like a coffee-table staple.

The 30-piece collection will blend McQueen’s skull imagery with (drumroll) bugs.

It works, we promise. See?

The line is available in-stores and on alexandermcqueen.com starting this Friday, November 15. Which means, Mom – hint, hint – that’s more than enough time for you to purchase one and put a bow on it.

Okay, fine. A girl can dream.

Whether it’s Google Glass, the Samsung GALAXY Gear watch, or Apple hiring Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts to oversee retail operations, the convergence of technology and style is apparently here. Now, as Fashionista tells us, “Wearable tech is getting a fashion-y makeover from Michael Bastian, Rachel Zoe, and more.”

Fash-Up: Rachel Zoe Takes on Wearable Technology

Zoe, Bastian, and others – including Mara Hoffman, whose design is pictured above – have paired with eBay to create limited-edition tech bracelets that double as USB chargers. Maybe it’s just us, but the charger has never looked so good.
