‪@MLahage: Fashion can define a moment in social and political identity, is today’s ‪#fashion too safe? #NYFW
Good question. Let’s go ask Lady Gaga.

Can David Beckham do anything without looking sweet? (Except for when he used to occasionally kick soccer balls at people, of course.) #swoon

Braids = officially trending forever.

Cool as this is, we can’t help thinking it’s an egregious waste of chocolate.

‪@CMYKaboom: I can tell its Fashion Week because all the in-cab commercials are about fashion. “Buy shoes,” they whisper to me in a seductive purr. ‪#nyfw
We’ve never needed to be seduced into buying shoes. Not once.

Lost Your Shirt? Your Cell Phone Knows Where It Is

This week, Los Angeles–based menswear designer Asher Levine stirred up the Fashion Week runways by sending models out in – wait for it – giant rubber bat wings. But it looks like his bag of tricks doesn’t end there. Levine’s next line? Each piece will contain a microchip that’s linked to your cell phone. So, when you’ve dropped trou and just can’t seem to figure out where they’ve run off to, you can call them and they’ll beep until found.

Next up: geolocatable gym socks.

Burnin’ Up NYFW: Joe Jonas Named Best Dressed

It seems the former Jo-Bro can dress. Today, British GQ dubbed Joe Jonas “NYFW’s Best-Dressed Man,” which shocked us. First because, man? And second because, Joe Jonas.

But then we checked out his looks. That fresh blue suit, pulled off with plaid and scuffed boots. Those leather jackets. A try at tone-on-tone (our latest obsession). All made, dare we say, effortlessly cool.

Don’t believe us? Check it out in British GQ.

Behind the Scenes We Go: Backstage Beauty at Meskita

From Peter Som to Richard Chai Love, the makeup looks at New York Fashion Week have been all about the eyes. And it was no different at Meskita‘s neoprene-filled runway show last night, where Bobbi Brown’s lead makeup artist, Rogelio Reyna, took the cat-eye to new levels.

NYFW: Behind the Scenes at Meskita

“We wanted to go with a 50s-meets-New-York-Barbie look,” Rogelio says, “so we just did flawless-looking skin with an extreme cat-eye.”

His tips for achieving the runway look? “Always follow your natural eye. Start at the corner of your eye, draw a little line up to the crease, do a little triangle, and follow it onto the lid itself. And then, just color within the lines.” Rogelio also recommends using Bobbi Brown’s award-winning long-wear gel eyeliner to keep your cat-eye from smearing.

As for other beauty trends this Fashion Week, Rogelio says it’s all about soft, not-overgroomed brows and a pale, almost-nude lip. Sounds like our fall beauty routines will be pretty easy – once we master this cat-eye, that is.

Beyond the Runways: A Fashion Week–Inspired Guide

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week descended upon New York City this past Thursday. And, yes, guilty – our eyes have been glued to the runways. But there’s far more to Fashion Week than the fashion itself. Here, a look at a few of the city’s most glamorous outside-the-tents haunts.

Ahh, Fashion Month. Twice a year, it turns the streets of Manhattan, Milan, Paris, and London into one big runway where bloggers, socialites, and editors are as highly photographed as the models on the catwalks. Here, five street-style stars to watch out for next season – because February will be here before you know it.

Instant Inspiration: 5 Pinterest Boards We Can’t Get Enough Of

A Tuesday roundup of our recent Pinterest obsessions

Paris Fashion Week is about to bid us all adieu. Tear. So let’s take a moment to fall in love (again) with each of these fashion greats.

1. We could say a lot of things about Alexander McQueen but, for now, we’ll just say this: hauntingly beautiful.

2. Can we have a closet full of Lanvin? We promise we’ll take good care of it.

3. Valentino. Because if Jackie O loved it, so do we.

4. Let’s be real. Is there any fashion logo more iconic than Chanel‘s “CC”?

5. We adore Christian Dior. (Who doesn’t?)

Can’t get enough Pinterest inspiration? Check out past boards that caught our eye.

Let’s Talk NYFW: 5 Minutes with The Man Repeller

Confession: I have a major girl crush on The Man Repeller, Leandra Medine. Her quick-witted fashion blog might as well be my home page. So when I ran into her at Wes Gordon’s S/S 2014 runway show yesterday, you can bet I said hi. Here, we talk all things Fashion Week.
