It’s time you brought some dignity back to the family vacay. Instead of shelling out thousands on Mickey Mouse everything, unwind in a castle. Yes, a real-life castle. And did we mention it’s cheaper?

The 17th-century French Château de Sorel is just 47 miles outside of Paris (hello, Champs-Élysées and macarons). After you shop ’til you drop in the city, head back and settle into the country way of life. Fish private streams and explore nearby villages by bike. Your castle getaway even comes complete with moats and well-manicured gardens.

And the best part? The entire property sleeps 15 for $600 a night (a.k.a. everyone chips in $40). Cue the champagne.

Today, the new biopic, Yves Saint Laurent, hits theaters in the United States. Can’t wait to see it? Well, lucky for us impatient fashion lovers, ELLE sat down with the movie’s director, Jalil Lespert, for the inside scoop. The interview covers juicy details about the use of original YSL dresses, surprising facts about the French designer, and his partner Pierre Bergé’s involvement with production. So, basically, it’s required reading.

Watch the trailer below and read the full interview with Lespert at elle.com. (And don’t forget to grab tickets – this is one film you won’t want to miss.)

Love her or hate her, you have to admit that Gwyneth Paltrow has quite the résumé. From winning an Academy Award to founding her own lifestyle website, it seems the mother of two has done it all. So when Blo Blow Dry Bar announced yesterday that she will be working on the company’s creative direction, I wasn’t all that shocked. Although I did wonder: Why her?

Well, according to the beauty franchise, it was her “keen business instinct” and “emphasis on high-quality customer experience” that led to the collaboration. I have a feeling, however, that it might have more to do with last year’s talk of Gwyneth opening her own blow dry bar. Avoiding competition? Probably. But I am excited to see where she’ll take the company. (Think goop + blowouts.)

She fights childhood obesity, wears J.Crew, and is best friends with Beyoncé. We already love Michelle. But today, we love her even more as she proudly flaunts the AARP card that ushers her into the world of fifty-somethings.

Happy Birthday, Michelle Obama!

How will she be celebrating, you ask? A dance party, according to ABC7 News. It’s too soon to tell whether we’re talking ballroom or freestyle, but it will take place Saturday night at the White House.

We just hope Ellen got an invite.

Apparently the cursive I learned in elementary school is outdated.

The Hour of Code Initiative

The newest push in education? Coding. And this week – backed by the likes of Mark Zuckerberg, Ashton Kutcher, and the POTUS himself – computer science education website Code.org is making that clear. Introducing “The Hour of Code,” an initiative which encourages schools to teach their students coding (not cursive) for an hour this week.

“Don’t just buy a new video game – make one,” Obama speaks out. “Don’t just download the latest app – help design it.”

Now ladies, here’s where you come in: According to ELLE, “By 2020, there are expected to be one million jobs in tech and programming. But while 57% of bachelor’s degrees are earned by women, only 12% of computer science degrees are held by women.” Which means tech jobs (like this company) are going to need you. Lots of you.

Oh, yes. You read that right. The scrunchable hair staple of yesteryear is making a comeback: luxe scrunchies have found their way into the Fall 2013 collections of Missoni and Marc Jacobs. And they’re yours for the taking… at upwards of $95 a piece.

Scrunchies

In defense of the revival? Jennifer Aniston’s stylist – the man behind her recently chopped look – who recently told ELLE he “loves a scrunchie.”

But seriously, do you dare? Read ELLE‘s full history of the scrunchie here, then decide for yourself.

Monday’s tomorrow. Le sigh. Which means, newsflash: you should probably get some sleep.

No? A few more things to check off that to-do list? Well, according to this infographic from ELLE, your beauty, health – and yes, even potentially your sanity – are at stake here.

When you get less than seven hours of sleep, you risk slowing down your metabolism (and the resulting weight gain), decreased short-term memory, and, in the long term, cardiovascular disease. With every hour less than the minimum that you get, your risk increases.

So how about you turn off that iPad® for now, warm up some milk, and cozy into bed with a really bad book, okay?

See the full infographic on ELLE.
