Fact: Dooney & Bourke bags are instantly recognizable. But do you know why the label chose its iconic duck logo? Or how its name came about? Find out here.
- Created in 1975, the brand is named after founders Peter Dooney and Frederic Bourke.
- The signature duck symbol was chosen because the label’s specially treated All-Weather Leather is naturally water-repellent, like a duck’s feathers.
- Dooney & Bourke’s first bags were traditional equestrian saddle bags. Today, you can still find samples of said bags at the label’s headquarters in Norwalk, CT.
Our Dooney & Bourke Boutique opens Wednesday, October 23, at 11AM ET.
