Versace has named Madonna, notorious icon of the 80s, 90s, and well, the indefinite future, its spokesperson for the fourth time. Madonna replaces last year’s face (and rumored rival) Lady Gaga in next spring’s campaign: a 12-page spread where she appears ageless, wild, and every bit in step with her younger self.

This latest collaboration between the superstar and the luxury fashion house will appear in Vanity Fair and the American, French, and Italian editions of Vogue. Of Madonna’s persona, Donatella Versace tells the New York Times, “She is her own woman, a role model who shows other women how we can do what we want, and get what we want, and do so for all of our lives, with no compromise.”

Madonna’s triumphant return marks 10 years since her last partnership with Versace. For the woman who literally taught us how to vogue, it’s only right that she revisit the pages to remind us how it’s done.

People who resemble their pets – it’s an interesting phenomenon that I still haven’t quite figured out. But when the owner is a household name in fashion and Fido shares his or her impeccable style, I’m easily obsessed.

You see, these fashionable duos may not be the identical types that often go viral online, but they do share the same love of style and the finer things in life. For example, Donatella Versace’s terrier is treated to daily deep-conditioning treatments, while Carolina Herrera’s pooch was immortalized in a print for her line back in 2012.

But is all that champagne and caviar kibble all it’s cracked up to be? So far, the BFFs (best furry friends) have yet to comment. Personally, if Karl Lagerfeld ever asked me to jump, I’d probably do one of two things: instinctively say “how high,” or just roll over and die.

If it was the 90s, and Lady Gaga and Donatella Versace were in middle school, you can bet they’d be wearing BFF heart necklaces. I mean, Gaga even wrote an entire song dedicated to and named after Donatella on her ARTPOP album.

So really, it should come as no surprise that the iconic designer has asked her fashion-forward friend to front Versace’s Spring 2014 ads. The only thing shocking will be the ads themselves. This is the woman who wore a thong to the VMAs, after all.
