Raf Simons, the creative genius behind Dior, channeled David Bowie’s “chameleon quality” for last week’s couture show. Just like Mr. Bowie (and the color-changing reptiles), we can all benefit from a new look every now and then. Take a cue from these high-voltage brights and prepare to make a statement.

Most Coveted

  1. Elizabeth McKay Gumball Shift Dress. Wondering how to pull off neon at the office? Opt for a demure style like this feminine scalloped pattern.
  2. Amrita Singh “Rock Princess” Drop Earrings. Pump up your favorite T-shirt with a statement earring. On-trend, colorful gems really do the trick.
  3. Cinzia Rocca White Cocoon Raincoat. White coats are instant attention-grabbers. Use one to top off a head-to-toe monochrome ensemble.
  4. Dior Addict Lip Color in Baby Rose. A natural, rosy-hued lipstick is all it takes to balance a vibrant outfit.
  5. BCBGMAXAZRIA “Clip” Leather Sneaker. Slip-ons have never been more versatile. Try them with sleek dresses, flirty skirts, and boyfriend jeans.

The meaning behind a label’s name isn’t always as straightforward as Chanel (it’s Coco’s surname). Today, many designers go for more elusive monikers, often paying homage to muses and family members. Here are the stories behind a few of our favorites.

New day, new look. At least, that’s what we say. And these three trends are making things very easy.

It goes without saying: white is a summer staple. It’s crisp, clean (at least in the morning), and – when worn with bold pops of color and texture – anything but boring. Here are three ways to work it into your wardrobe, stat.

Lady in red (& white): Red is alluring on many levels. Pair this hard-case clutch with old-fashioned beading for a striking juxtaposition.

All mod: Black and white is as timeless as it is modern. As is leather and lace. Go with ankle-strap pumps for extra height and a one-shoulder dress or asymmetrical hem for added dimension.

Keep an arsenal of belts: Nothing breaks up an outfit quite like a belt. And this ribbon belt in particular could just as easily double as a head scarf.

Our New styles have arrived. Big. Rue. Sale. Boutique relaunches Friday, July 19, at 3PM ET.

New York Fashion Week has seen its fair share of new fashion trends, and right along with them are the fresh beauty looks. So what can we expect to stock our makeup bags with this fall? Between the barely-there makeup at BCBGMAXAZRIA; blue and purple eyeshadow at Jason Wu; nude manicures at La Perla and DANNIJO; and graphic nail art at Rebecca MinkoffNicholas K, and Degen (just to name a few) – it’s safe to say that bold and understated will live together in harmony.

And the hair? Put those curling irons away, because straight blunt cuts and messy, undone styles – from the grunge look at BCBGMAXAZRIA to roughed up ponytails at Richard Chai and Tadashi Shoji – are back.

Fashion Week Trend of the Day Banner

While there were plenty of showstopping accessories on the BCBGMAXAZRIA runway yesterday, it was their brigade of beanies that had everyone talking. Like a cherry on a sundae, the slouchy knit hats deliciously topped off the label’s embroidered tunics and printed shifts.

Ah, the stocking – proof that size certainly doesn’t count when it comes to gifting. I personally find the stocking portion to be my favorite part of Christmas morning (along with the coffee-cake portion, of course), and I have a hunch that your loved ones hold the same sentiment.

Using the Get Gifty: Our Holiday Gift Shop as a guide, here are six easy ways to surprise and delight your favorites come present time.

Clockwise, from top left:

Patterned silk tie. Between wedding invites and the workplace, he’ll be beyond grateful for this little silk number.

Diamond studs. It’s little surprises like these that keep the stocking game fun.

iPhone clutch. There’s no way a phone can be misplaced when it’s resting within a little sparkle and shine.

Wine bottle stopper. Mr. Wine Aficionado will be thrilled (and you can bet he’ll share his vino).

Tortoise sunglasses. This logo (hint: it’s a spade) is what Christmas dreams are made of.

Kids’ necklace & bracelet set. Introduce your little lady the art of mixing and matching.

Get Gifty: Our Holiday Gift Shop is now open.
