It’s Monday. You haven’t had your latte yet, and you don’t have a clue what to wear. The solution? First, coffee. Then, grab any shade of neutral. From bright white to ecru, these light earthy tones work together seamlessly. Add a delicate silver bracelet and you’ll be out the door in no time.

Confirmed: Nicolas Ghesquière is Replacing Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton

A year after resigning his role as creative director of Balenciaga, fashion designer Nicolas Ghesquière is rejoining the ranks of the employed. After months of speculation, Louis Vuitton announced that Ghesquière would be their new artistic director of women’s collections. The position was recently vacated by Marc Jacobs, who is rumored to be preparing his namesake line for an IPO. He had previously been with the brand for 16 years.

Louis Vuitton isn’t in the dire straits that Balenciaga was when Ghesquière took the helm there in 1997, but the storied French fashion house is due for a shake-up. Lucky for everyone, he’s definitely the right man for the job.

If his contributions include anything like the super-coveted leather motorcycle bags and jackets he designed at Balenciaga, I’d better start saving now.

Chitter Chatter

Get: Ready to shudder. Meggings (that’s leggings for men) are actually a new trend.

Know: Alexander Wang has been named the Creative Director of Balenciaga. Wonder if he and Kstew will become besties?

Meet: The original creator of “The Cosby Sweater,” without whom we wouldn’t have the best holiday event ever: the ugly sweater party. Thank you Koos van den Akker, we owe you one.

Congratulate: Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini, who is expecting her first child with Gucci CEO Patrizio Di Marco. This is going to be one well-dressed kid (and yes, we’re jealous).

Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Balenciaga, Hermès – consider these names the fab four of handbag designers. From their sought-after silhouettes to the have-to-have-them labels, Roberto Szerer of LUXEDH talks details. Having trouble seeing your life without one? Snap them up in our From the Reserve: Handbags by Louis Vuitton & More Boutique.

Rue La La: You’ve seen your fair share of designer handbags. How can you tell the real from the knockoffs?
Roberto: Over the years, our authenticators have acquired these skills by looking at thousands and thousands of what is real and what is a knockoff. The authenticity of a handbag is determined by many factors, among them certain aspects of bags like serial numbers, date codes, materials, hardware, and other criteria like patterns of leather, etc. Continue reading “The Fab Four: Roberto Szerer of LUXEDH Talks Designer Handbags” »
