Get the Look: Jennifer Lawrence at the 2011 Oscars

Before she was the object of a million girl crushes, we knew Jennifer Lawrence as that blonde bombshell in red at the 2011 Academy Awards. It was her first Oscar nomination, and instead of going the expected route of ultra-glam starlet, Jennifer was surprisingly laid-back, leaving her hair down in beachy waves and keeping the accessories to a minimum.

It’s a look that totally stuck out in my memory. And even better – it’s 100% re-creatable for us non-red-carpet folks. Here’s what you’ll need:

Get the Look

The obvious place to start? With that gorgeous red dress. And we have it here, in our Calvin Klein Collection Women Boutique, opening Wednesday, March 20, at 11AM ET.

We Couldn’t Have Said It Better…

New York Magazine: The Cut, recounting an incredibly adorable red carpet explanation from Quvenzhané Wallis:

We Couldn't Have Said It Better

Even though everyone has been buzzing about Jennifer Lawrence, Quvenzhané Wallis totally stole my heart with her Oscar antics and hallmark puppy purse (and I’m sure I’m not alone). Because, seriously – if you’re walking the red carpet, sparkles are the only way to go.

5 Style Bytes You May Have Missed

The Oscars Edition

The glamour of the Oscars may be over, but we’ve preserved the best (and perhaps funniest) tweets we read that night.

@dkny: Well Sandra’s certainly been skipping the cupcakes. I wish I could say the same.
Us, too. Our excuse is that we weren’t invited to the Oscars, so what’s a few cupcake calories?

@WhoWhatWear: Can someone give me a bright lip please? Or just a lip? Anyone? Bueller? #peopleoscars
What happened to the trend of bold, bright lipstick? Seriously lacking on the red carpet this year.

@thecoveteur: All we care about is the status of Bradley Cooper’s hair. Cc @ilariaurbinati #tcrealtalk #wallgroupies #Oscars
There was gel. Lots of gel. (Apparently George Clooney was the only one who missed the memo.)

@elementstyle: Someone get Kristen a brush and some enthusiasm for life
And maybe a pair of black-tie crutches.

@refinery29: Going to work out now. Bye. Thanks Jane Fonda.
If we can’t get the workout secrets, can someone give us the number for her doctor?

Surely we missed something, so leave your favorite tweets of the week in the comments below, or tweet us, of course: @ruelala.

What’s Your Red-Carpet Style?

From glam to flirty, find your perfect awards-show look

The Oscars are but a few hours away – and we can hardly wait. After preparing for the viewing party and filling out the ballots, the next best thing (aside from the platters of finger food) is the red-carpet arrivals. So we had to ask: If you were invited to the awards ceremony, what type of gown would you go for?
