Hand lifts for better engagement photos, foot surgery to last longer in heels – it’s hard to be surprised by trends anymore. The next to arrive? Eyebrow transplants.

Eyebrow Transplants

Inspired by the full brows of celebs and models (think Cara Delevingne and Lily Collins) some of the less endowed are heading to the doc. What should potential patients expect from the procedure? First, they’ll dish out about $5,000 and then undergo two weeks of recovery time, including swelling, bruising, and yes, scabbing (ouch!). When that’s all over, natural hair takes root above the eye line and begins to grow in on its own. The result? Fuller arches.

So for all the pencil-thin brows out there, you do have options. But remember, trends come and go, and it may not be long until thin is back in.

For your bathroom counter: Keep your beauty tools in one place with a simple magnetic strip affixed to the wall. Think bobby pins, eyelash curlers, and nail clippers – all in the same grab-and-go spot.

For a grown-out mani: Want to disguise nail overgrowth between trips to the salon? Layer on your go-to glitter polish at the base of your nail to create an ombré effect. Finish with a topcoat to seal.

For oily hair: Blotting papers aren’t only for your face. Use them along your hairline, bangs, or anywhere that strands are looking a little slick. Pro tip: toilet-seat covers are an effective substitute in a pinch.

For unruly brows: Struggling to keep each and every brow hair tame? Grab a clean toothbrush and medium-hold hairspray. Spritz the brush bristles, and comb through eyebrows to groom. Let dry and voilà – your arches will keep shape all day long.

For post-workout plans: Tackle the yoga-to-happy hour transition with ease. Before exercising, wash off makeup. After, splash cold water on your face to cool down and fight redness. Then apply concealer, powder, two swipes of mascara, and a blot of lipstick.

For DIY hair ties: Sick of losing those ubiquitous black hair elastics? Make your own with cording from the craft store (bonus points for punchy hues). Cut five-inch strips and double knot the ends of each strip. Not only are these easy to spot – they also double as bracelets.

Sia’s bleach-blonde wig is generally more recognizable than her face. But recently, the very private “Chandelier” songstress ditched her usual garb and smiled for the cameras.

Now, this reveal is a big deal. While other celebs post selfies and clamor for screen time, Sia has publicly declared her desire to avoid fame. Instead, the singer frequently performs with her back to the audience and hides her face during interviews.

We totally respect her wishes for anonymity. But if ditching the wig means more topknot buns like the one she flaunted publicly, we’re all for it.

For hat hair: Tie a silk scarf underneath that snug beanie. The fluid fabric minimizes flyaway-causing friction and static. Your tresses will thank you upon taking it off.

For air-drying curls: Don’t step into the freezing cold with wet locks. Style curly hair into four loose buns to dry overnight. Put one on each side of your head, twisting the bun away from your face. Then wrap two more on the crown of your head.

For split ends: Mix three tablespoons olive oil with two tablespoons raw honey for a nourishing hair mask. Apply post-shampoo, leave on for 20 to 30 minutes, rinse, and re-shampoo. Bye, damaged strands and flaky scalp.

Sure, a bit of scruff may be the look du jour, but a smooth shave will never go out of style. While there are pitfalls to picking up the razor daily (think ingrown hairs and irritation), a well-equipped grooming arsenal will keep the nicks at bay and leave heads turning. Here we outline which essentials belong in your medicine cabinet, and of course, how to properly use them.
