6 Steps for an Easy Closet Turnover (No, Seriously)

It’s been real, summer, but the time has come to send you and your nautical-loving wardrobe on its way. I’m talking out with old and breezy and in with the new and cozy. Although a solid turnover will probably take you a whole day, it doesn’t have to be a headache. The key is to keep at it. Don’t get distracted by having your own fashion show in front of the mirror (though if you do, no judgments here). Now that you’re prepped, let’s get into the nitty gritty:

RIP Sweat Stains: How to De-Yellow Your White Tees

The Fitting Room Sweat Stains

Pit stains = awkward. If you argue with me on that one, I suggest you soak up some nice visuals courtesy of this BuzzFeed, then rethink your stance.

Now that you’re officially grossed out, let’s talk how to get rid of them. And yes, you can get rid of them – so long as you attack them while they’re, um… fresh.

What you’ll need:

  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Baking soda
  • Water
  • A sweat-stained white tee

How to do it:

  1. Combine equal parts hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and water in a small bowl.
  2. Mix it all together so it forms a solution.
  3. Rub the solution onto the tee’s stains, then let sit for 30 minutes.
  4. Toss it in the washer as you would normally (choose cold water).
  5. Once the cycle is finished, make sure the stain isn’t there. If it is, repeat steps 3 and 4.

Note: DO NOT throw the shirt in the dryer until the stain is gone. Heat will set the stain – which means sorry, thrice-washed sweat-stained white tee, but to the trash with you. If all else fails, though, you can always douse the stain with meat tenderizer. Yes, I’m serious. Directions here.

Why Wear Neon? Here Are 4 Reasons

The real question here is, why not wear neon? It’s an of-the-moment, white-hot trend. Even in the smallest doses it has the ability to add energy, catch attention, and make a fashion-forward statement. But if you need even more justification as to why you should rock these bold shades, here is a list of not-so-normal-but-totally-true reasons.

BLG-1636 Boutique Support Bright Neon Watches

1. This is (totally not) a fact. But is it a crime to look awesome while you break a sweat? Nope.

2. Head-to-toe. Peeking out from your watch dial. It literally doesn’t matter how you wear it – it’s that cool.

3. If you haven’t heard about some variation of these runs, you need to do some research. Picture running with your friends, energizing music pumping along the route, and dancing your way through LED-lit tunnels. Sign. Me. Up.

4. It’s true. Bikers, hunters, and late-night runners alike have all discovered neon’s ability to get you noticed. Now just harness that superpower in the form of sky-high stilettos.

Now start with your wrist, then let the neon craze take over.

Our Total Showstopper: Bright & Neon Watches Boutique opens Saturday, August 3, at 11AM ET.

Channeling Brigitte Bardot: How to Get Bombshell Hair

Brigitte Bardot’s signature, sexily undone hair is iconic – and with its effortlessly chic vibe and pinup volume, it’s also a great style to rock this summer. The best part? With the right tools and few simple tricks from Rue’s very own hair stylist, Rachael B., taking your tresses from flat to bombshell is a cinch.

BLG-1601

What you’ll need:

How to do it:

  1. Separate your hair into sections to curl, starting with the bottom. Spray each section with hair spray as you go.
  2. Wrap hair around the curling wand, alternating the direction of the curl for a tousled look. Tip: if the curl just won’t take, grab less hair and try again. Repeat until each section is curled.
  3. Use the thin styling iron to lightly flat-iron the ends of curls for a less polished look.
  4. Part hair from your right ear straight up to the top of your head. Repeat on left side and pull both sections into a high ponytail. Secure with a thin, clear elastic band and lightly tug until desired pouf is achieved. Add a “Bardot” bow to complete the look.

Bonus tip: polish off your locks with a shine-boosting mist (try this one by Corioliss) for extra protection against frizz and flyaways.

Our Corioliss Boutique opens Friday, August 2, at 11AM ET.
