Skip the Falsies: Try This Lash-Thickening Trick

At first glance, this is admittedly a little freaky. Reminds me of the 90s when the inner-lid eyeliner was all the craze. But don’t panic – we’re not getting that close to our contact lenses this time. Tightlining, sometimes called “the invisible eyeliner,” is characterized by full, thick lashes and achieved through a subtle application of eyeliner.

Eye Can Do It: How To Tightline

How to apply? “Key to mastering tightlining is pulling up your eyelid slightly and then depositing pigment not above or below your lashes, but straight on them, so that you fill the ‘gaps’ left by the growth of your individual eyelashes,” writes New York Magazine: The Cut.

The trick is to appear as if you’re not wearing any eyeliner whatsoever. While I don’t suggest practicing while sitting in traffic on the way to work, tightlining can be an effective technique for adding definition to your eyes – in a super sneaky way.

Visit The Cut for a full GIF tutorial on tightlining.

Try It Tonight: Curl Your Hair with a Flat Iron

It’s almost the weekend, which means one thing: retreating to the couch with a really nice glass of Rioja and some Homeland reruns.

Okay, maybe that’s just me. For plans that require more than a messy topknot and bootlegged Showtime subscription, behold – a step-by-step tutorial on how to curl your hair with nothing but a flat iron (and maybe a brush and some hair spray).

Genius.

How to Make Your Skinny Jeans Feel Fresh

Refinery29 says it all: “When it comes to big fashion moments, there’s Before Skinny Jeans and After Skinny Jeans.”

10 Ways To Make Skinny Jeans Feel New

But while we’re (super) happy to be living in A.S.J. right now, we have to admit – our staple skinnies feel a smidge tired every once in a while.

To the rescue: ten new ways to wear them, straight from Refinery29.

1. Fold ‘Em Up — Buying your pants a few inches too long doesn’t have to mean a trip to the tailor. Roll them up, and wear your pair with a few chic layers and some killer heels. It’s an irreverent styling trick that makes an outfit feel undone in a good way.

2. Patches Make Perfect — Cover an old pair of jeans with a smattering of fun iron-ons, or buy a pair of pre-patched jeans like these from 3.1 Phillip Lim. Wear them with basics and sparse accessories.

3. Cut Copies — Clean, straight slits at the knees are a riff on all the distressed denim we’ve been seeing, but this trend is totally compelling in a perfectionist’s sort of way. Wear it with low-pro brogues and wild prints.

Read the source article at refinery29.com for seven more ways to make skinny jeans feel new.

3 Boot & Skirt Pairings to Try

Riding Boots with a Miniskirt
CM: “This is a classic look that can be revamped each season by choosing different shirt and sweater pairings. Incorporating colored or patterned tights adds a bit of texture. If the weather works in your favor, feel free to nix the tights.”

Have a Minute? Here’s How to De-Stress in 60 Seconds

Life. Gets. Crazy. That’s a simple fact. But calm is attainable – even on the busiest of days. All you have to do is breathe.

Canyon Ranch blog

According the experts at Canyon Ranch®, controlled, purposeful breathing is a powerful tool you can call upon anytime, anywhere. When your chest tightens. When you lose focus. When those deadlines start creeping up, and the emails keep piling in. You know, like… today.

Here’s how to start the unwind. (Feel free to try it right at your desk.)

  1. Sit down. Make sure you’re comfortable, then rest your hands on your stomach.
  2. Inhale deeply, inflating your abdomen to its full capacity. Release your breath slowly.
  3. On the next inhale, fill your abdomen again. Then move that breath into your ribs.
  4. Breathe out. First release the air in your ribs, then your abdomen.
  5. Inhale one more time, again moving your breath into your abdomen, then your ribs, then finally into your chest.
  6. Release your breath in reverse order and repeat.

Want to take the calm a step further? Our Canyon Ranch® Boutique opens Tuesday, October 15, at 11AM ET.
