Even if it’s not quite chilly enough for a scarf and sweater, there’s something so satisfying about swapping out summer décor for pinecones and pumpkins. And what better place to start than your front door? Below, we break down four fall-ready ways to kick your porch game up a notch.

fall pumpkin decorations When in Doubt, Go for Pumpkins
It’s not autumn until the pumpkins are on display. Place a few – or several – around your doorstep for a welcoming vibeStick with orange for a traditional feeling, or opt for white and green versions to create a cool, modern look.

The no-fail way to radiate fall vibes: a warm-hued wreath, complete with leaves, berries, and pinecones. Or, if you’re more into a subtle look, try a neutral approach with a sophisticated, uniform color scheme.

Those spring planters you thought you’d put away? Keep ’em out and pack them with a bounty of gourds, multicolored mini pumpkins, and autumn flowers (like mums).

We’ve all been there. With almost no time before a big event, you realize your dress is a crumpled disaster. Stay. Calm. These three tricks will salvage your outfit – sans iron.

Make a Wrinkle-Release Spray to Avoid Ironing ClothesDIY Wrinkle-Release Spray
Combine one teaspoon conditioner with one tablespoon white vinegar and two cups water. Funnel into a bottle, and voilà! You’ve got yourself an instant wrinkle-release spray. Just spritz on trouble spots, then pull fabric taut until it’s smooth.

No steamer? Don’t sweat it. Position a hot teakettle about a foot away from your garment and use the steam to remove any creases.

Hair Dryer
Once you’ve finished taming your tresses, keep your hair dryer on hand. Dampen the crinkled spots on your clothing, then hit them with low heat. Avoid singed threads by holding the dryer at least 2 inches back.

Now you can be fashionably late on purpose.

Bookworms, rejoice! Along with pumpkin-spice everything, this season comes with a slew of new fiction. So get ready to update your Goodreads account and take a peek at our top picks below.

Curling Up with Fall's Must-Read Books

The Girl in the Spider’s Web: A Lisbeth Salander Novel
Lisbeth Salander is back, and if we know her, it’s with a vengeance. Swedish novelist David Lagercrantz picked up where Stieg Larsson left off in this Millennium-series follow-up, which hit shelves September 1. The book follows Lisbeth as she takes on tech spies and the NSA. (We wouldn’t mess with her – just sayin’.)

Admit it. You watch Pretty Little Liars, too. Well Shay Mitchell, a.k.a. Emily Fields, cowrote this novel with her real-life BFF, Michaela Blaney. Debuting October 6, the story is all about three 20-somethings taking on the world together. So basically, it’s Taylor Swift‘s Instagram in book form.

Oh the Moon: Stories from the Tortured Mind of Charlyne Yi
Ever read Shel Silverstein? This is kind of like that, only funnier. Comedian Charlyne Yi penned and illustrated this whimsical collection of strange short stories, each of which is connected by an overarching theme of love and its many challenges. Get your hands on a copy November 3.

Now that you’ve revamped your fall reading list, all you need is a cozy nook – and seasonal latte.

Leaving a hotel feeling better than when you arrived? Amazing. That’s why we’re obsessed with Westin Hotels & Resorts. Its whole philosophy centers on programs and products that help guests sleep well, eat well, move well, feel well, work well, and play well. But since we can’t all jet off at a moment’s notice, here’s a look at how to achieve serenity at home.

Westin Hotels & Resorts bed with pillowsSleep Well
Nothing restores your mind and body more than sleeping. According to the National Sleep Foundation, these are three of the simplest ways to achieve a better rest:

  1. Stick to a schedule.
  2. Establish a relaxing bedtime ritual.
  3. Sleep on a plush mattress (a.k.a. The Heavenly® Bed).

Westin White Tea Aloe bath products on platterFeel Well
This one is going to be difficult to turn down. All you have to do is unwind. So sink into a warm bath and light a signature White Tea Aloe candle. While you’re there, practice abdominal breathing. Using this technique for only 20 minutes each day will reduce anxiety and stress. Pro tip: A cozy shawl-collar robe is the perfect end to a tranquil soak.

Take steps toward an improved you. Our Westin Store Boutique opened Tuesday, September 1, at 3PM ET.

In search of the perfect print for your friend? Forget raiding racks and racks of frames. Just follow our lead with this art-by-personality guide.

Classic Art PrintFor the lover of classics. A painting with muted tones depicting forever-chic items (e.g. Chanel) will make her walls look as sharp as her closet.

Edgy Art PrintFor the friend with an edge. Choose a design that makes a statement. A bold skull softened by bright flower petals should do the trick.

Travel Art PrintFor the travel junkie. This colorful map bursts away from the ordinary. With its pattern overload, the décor may even serve to inspire her next adventure.

Bold Art PrintFor the powerhouse. Does she do it all – and do it so well? Then a bright style spelling it out will be a welcome addition to her abode.

Of course, you can always just snag a piece to spruce up your own space, too. Our The Oliver Gal Artist Co. Boutique opened Monday, August 10, at 11AM ET.

Wedding season is in full bloom, which means you’re probably an expert at catching bouquets by now. Next time around, consider saving – and drying – those flowers to put on display for more than one day.

How to Dry Flowers with Hairspray
What you’ll need:

  • Twine
  • Bottle of aerosol hairspray

How to do it:

  1. Tie twine around the stems to keep them together.
  2. Lightly mist each blossom with hairspray.
  3. Hang them upside down in a cool, dark place (like your basement or closet) for two to five days.
  4. Arrange them in a vase. If you’re careful not to break the petals (this can be tricky), the colors and shapes of the flowers will last.

The best part about this centerpiece? It’s an easy upcycle. And, well, free.

Enamored with the shabby-chic aesthetic? We get it. Coined by designer Rachel Ashwell in the 80s, the style brings comfy elegance to a whole new level. Let us show you how to recreate the look.

Shabby-Chic Decor

Mute the Hues. For this decorating scheme, white paint and light colors are essential. Refinish old furniture with these shades, then sand them gently for a worn appearance.

Hit the Antique Store. Shop for crystal fixtures and gold accents. If the perfect old-school treasure isn’t within reach, consider a reproduction with worn patina.

Keep It Feminine. Let a curvy-edged, French-inspired mirror sit pretty above a tufted headboard. Oh, and don’t be afraid of a skirted bed – think simple cotton or linens with pleats.

Bring the Outside In. That white outdoor furniture? It will look just as good indoors. Try a garden table as a desk or a wrought-iron chair at the dining-room table.

Taylor Swift NYC ApartmentWhen she’s not performing sold-out concerts or defining #SquadGoals in hit music videos, Taylor Swift can be found at her $19.9 million Tribeca penthouse. And since we haven’t found our way into the pop star’s It circle (yet), we’re sending major props to InStyle for giving us an insider look.

Taylor Swift NYC Apartment

The 7 bedroom, 5.5 bathroom apartment is a maze of exposed brick, ceiling beams, and warm hues. But its best feature is most definitely the visitors. According to T. Swift’s Instagram, Lena Dunham, Gigi Hadid, and Lorde are constant fixtures. Oh, and did we mention Karlie Kloss has her own guest bedroom? Those felines of Tay’s don’t know how lucky they are.

Sure, you’ve seen pastels and metallics before – but not like this. Gone are the sugary-sweet colors and overly opulent shine. These days, pastels are tastefully muted and metallics are refreshingly toned down. Work these five picks into your space to make an on-trend statement.Metallics Pastel Home Decorating

  1. Shimmery Pillows
A super-quick and easy update. All it takes is a slew of sparkling, iridescent mother-of-pearl seashells to jazz up a pair of pillows – and any spot they come to rest on.
  2. Chic Armchair
The icy tones of this chair bring a modern vibe to any space (did you see those acrylic legs?!). It’s a total statement piece, so one is enough. But we won’t blame you if you pick up a pair.

  4. Aluminum Baskets
Whether you stack them like an art piece or line them up to serve as storage, these recycled-aluminum baskets are sure to catch the eye.

Your Pinterest boards are populated with impossibly cool SoHo lofts. But the real estate? Not exactly in your possession. And it doesn’t have to be. Just incorporate a few industrial-chic pieces to bring downtown style to you. Here are five picks to get you started.Urban Loft Style

  1. Leather Chair
Cigar-brown leather plus sleek stainless steel puts a contemporary spin on the classic utilitarian accent chair. If your guests weren’t so polite, they’d fight over who gets to sit in it.
  2. Metal Bar Cart
Casters give this bar cart a cool utilitarian feel. The fact that it’s also silver and mirrored? Let’s call that a glam bonus. Just load it up with spirits and you’ve got yourself a mobile drink station.
  3. Industrial End Table
Mimic the exposed systems of converted lofts with a piece that could have been salvaged from a warehouse. This wood and iron end table totally fits the bill. Just pretty it up with a potted plant.
  4. Pendant Lights
Sure, lighting helps you see, but it should also be seen. Sleek mouth-blown glass makes a statement, day or night. Grab multiples to hang over a kitchen island or dining table.
  5. Natural-Fiber Rug
A super-versatile, neutral-hued jute weave works to dress up hardwood (or concrete) on its own or as an anchor for layers. To really get the urban loft feel, pile a Moroccan-style rug or two right on top.

Start redecorating. Our The Urban Loft: Inspired by Manhattan Boutique opened Tuesday, July 21, at 11AM ET.
