The Gang’s All Here: Johnny Depp to Film in Boston This Summer

Earlier this morning, PEOPLE reported sightings of Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp (as if he needs an introduction) and fiancée Amber Heard browsing the poetry section of the well-known Brattle Book Shop in Boston’s Downtown Crossing. Why? Because they’re making a tour of the country’s oldest bookstores? Nope. Depp will be spending the summer in Beantown filming Black Mass, the Warner Bros.–backed story of infamous South Boston mobster James “Whitey” Bulger.

And Bostonians, there’s even better news. Boston Magazine has released the filming dates and locations of Black Mass.  And not just the general area, but the exact addresses and street corners. Now, if you’re new to Rue La La, you may not realize that our offices are located in the now-fairly-gentrified South Boston neighborhood. So, will I be proposing a team outing to said street corners? Yes. Yes, I will.

La Perla Acts Fast to Squash Mannequin Drama

Yesterday, lingerie label La Perla came under fire for one of its SoHo storefront displays. The controversy was sparked after a passerby, entrepreneur Michael Rudoy, tweeted an image (which later went viral) captioned, “How does #LaPerla think ribs on a mannequin is ok?!”

La Perla Storefront

Within hours of the initial tweet, La Perla took to Twitter to announce that the mannequin had been taken down and would “not be used again by any La Perla boutique.”

Now, this isn’t the first time mannequin size has been an issue. JCPenney, Zara, and many other brands have been criticized for similar offenses in the past. What sets La Perla apart, however, is how swiftly it was to act. Personally, I’m giving the label props for such a punctual – and respectful – response. Its social media team definitely proved that 140 characters can buy you class when it comes to controversy.

High-Heel Lovers, Foot Surgery is the New Facelift

Chin implants and G-spot injections have officially become old news. The new beauty fad? Plastic surgery on your feet. And no, I’m not talking bunion surgery à la Victoria Beckham. This latest craze is more on the level of traditional foot binding – except it’s elective. I’m talking toe reshaping and fat injections into the footpad.

Elective Foot Surgery for Shoes

The latter procedure, I could understand. Decades of squeezing my size-11 dinosaur feet into size-10 heels (albeit, super fabulous heels) hasn’t exactly made me want to run marathons. And I’m only 25. If you’re in pain? Fine. Go for it. If you’re craving a toe slope that descends like the bars of a handcrafted xylophone, it may be time for a reality check.

Cheerio, New York: Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Moves to London

It’s official: The 2014 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will be held across the pond. At an early-morning press conference inside the brand’s London flagship store, CMO Ed Razek (alongside veteran Angels Adriana Lima and Candice Swanepoel) revealed his plans for the runway’s relocation.

According to Razek, the brand wanted to move the show from New York to London back in 1998 (when it first landed overseas), but “it just kind of all came together this year.”

My guess is that the show – slated for December 2 – will be packed with British celebs. In fact, it’s rumored that Cara Delevingne has already saved the date. (And I, for one, can’t wait.)
