The fashion world had the air knocked out of it today after learning of the passing of Helen Gurley Brown. As the author of the revolutionary Sex and the Single Girl and longtime editor of Cosmopolitan, she was credited with being a revolutionary figure in publishing and feminism. Says The Huffington Post,

The hard part about paying tribute to Brown is that it’s nearly impossible to do as well as she herself could. She is easily one of the most quotable women of the last 100 years. When it comes to turning a phrase, she would hold her own at a cocktail party also attended by Dorothy Parker, Diana Vreeland and Mae West. 

Long live quip, and long live strong women like Helen Gurley Brown.
