The Hepburn family’s good-gene game is strong. After appearing in Harper’s BAZAAR’s September issue, Emma Ferrer (Audrey Hepburn’s granddaughter) has signed a contract with Storm Model Management. The art student and former ballerina is now moving from Florence to New York City to attend her school’s satellite campus while pursuing her newfound modeling career.

As for the comparisons to her famous ancestor? Emma recently said, “All I can compare is what I live of her through my father and family. She had a desire to help people and make the world more beautiful, and I undeniably feel the same….When it’s these kinds of comparisons, no I’m never bothered, but rather honored.”

Fact: Diamonds are forever. So, before you commit to one, a little sparkle rundown is in order. Just read up and prepare to flaunt away.

The Four Cs of Diamonds
Cut
Cut determines a diamond’s brilliance. Meaning? The better it’s cut, the more showstopping sparkle the diamond will have.

Color
A diamond’s color grade actually refers to its lack of color. Completely colorless stones receive the highest quality grades.

Clarity
Clarity refers to a diamond’s tiny natural imperfections, called inclusions. The fewer the flaws, the higher the clarity grade.

Carat
The carat of a diamond refers to its weight, not the actual size of the stone.

Gone Girl lead actress Rosamund Pike is on a roll. Her latest project? Collaborating with British brand L.K.Bennett on a collection of carryalls. With clean lines and eye-catching leathers, her namesake styles – the Rosamund and its smaller sister, the Rosie – are poised to become the next attainable It bags.

On the appeal of L.K.Bennett’s sophisticated look, Pike gushes to InStyle: “I think that L.K.Bennett is the perfect brand for the working woman because it gives you that ability to feel dressed and polished without feeling overdone.”

And the totable, boxy satchels do just that. I’m envisioning the reptilian ones on my arm at the office, at the supermarket, and pretty much everywhere.

Here in the U.S., our annual shopping frenzy is served up with a side of Thanksgiving turkey. But over in China, Singles Day (a recently dreamed-up holiday) takes the win for record-breaking sales. This year, the November 11 occasion earned more than $9 billion – almost triple what Americans spent on Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined last year.

Wondering how this retail bonanza got its start? Back in the 1990s, Chinese college students used the day to celebrate their singledom (sort of an anti-Valentine’s Day). In the last few years, retailers encouraged the unattached masses to treat themselves – and indulge they did. Just like that, the biggest shopping day in history was born.

Whimsical dressing is one way to escape the dreariness of the impending winter weather. Enchanted forests came to life on the Fall 2014 runways with leafy sets, embroidered animal motifs, and hooded capes, making a mysterious, dreamlike vibe one of the season’s most compelling trends. Here are five key items to complete your fairytale look.

most-coveted-fairytale-dressing

  1. Casadei Suede Butterfly Shoe. Rich black suede and butterfly appliques add a playful twist on the standard strappy sandal.
  2. Bottega Veneta Snakeskin Bag. A classic shape is made current with genuine green snakeskin and black hardware.
  3. Caruana Bordeaux Wool Hooded Coat. Pull on this luxurious coat – a wearable take on Little Red Riding Hood’s signature look – for extra warmth on dark winter days.
  4. Shoshanna Multicolor Printed Dress. Swap your usual LBD for dark graphic prints that evoke a sense of drama.
  5. gorjana “Buckley” 18K Plated Antler Drop Earrings. Delicate antler earrings are a subtle nod to the outdoorsy trend.

On Monday night, the Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue magazine finally announced their latest Fashion Fund winner (drumroll please): Paul Andrew. The British-born shoe and accessories designer has worked at major labels, including Donna Karan and Alexander McQueen, and notably outfitted Lupita Nyong’o with red pumps at this year’s Golden Globes.

Impressed yet? This big honor puts him in the same league as past winners Alexander Wang, Joseph Altuzarra, and Proenza Schouler. Along with bragging rights, Andrew took home $300,000 and a yearlong mentorship with a fashion power player of his choice. His pick? Nike CEO Mark Parker. Andrew told Style.com, “The core of my business is great design with added comfort, and that is very much what Nike is about, too. I would love to be able to pick his brain and, ultimately, collaborate with him.”

With the prize money, Andrew plans to design the most-comfortable shoes on the market. Heels that look good and feel good? Sign me up ASAP.
