Behind the Seams: ELLE’s Scoop on the Yves Saint Laurent Biopic

Today, the new biopic, Yves Saint Laurent, hits theaters in the United States. Can’t wait to see it? Well, lucky for us impatient fashion lovers, ELLE sat down with the movie’s director, Jalil Lespert, for the inside scoop. The interview covers juicy details about the use of original YSL dresses, surprising facts about the French designer, and his partner Pierre Bergé’s involvement with production. So, basically, it’s required reading.

Watch the trailer below and read the full interview with Lespert at elle.com. (And don’t forget to grab tickets – this is one film you won’t want to miss.)

Windsor Is Coming: Queen Elizabeth Visits Game of Thrones Set

Yesterday, Queen Elizabeth made an appearance on the Game of Thrones set in Belfast, Northern Ireland. But much to fans’ discontent? She didn’t sit on the most famous seat in the Seven Kingdoms: the Iron Throne. With Kit Harington (Jon Snow) smiling and on-screen queen Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) encouraging her, all signs looked good, and it would have been the icing on the set-tour cake. Yet, sorry Twitter – epic memes are not in our future here.

To her credit, when you’re the Queen, you have every right to be choosy.

Who Won the World Cup’s Style Game?

As much as I’d like to go over why we should have won last night’s game against Portugal, I’m choosing to excuse myself from dwelling on that last-minute tie and instead take a moment to discuss something we’re all a little less sad about. Like, style.

Brazil v Mexico: Group A - 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil

Image via the New York Post

Soccer can be as much a sport of dynamic athletes as it is of sartorial pros – just look to the New York Post's inventory of the World Cup’s most fashionable as proof. Worth noting? Italy’s forward Mario Balotelli, who wore mismatched cleats in brilliant blue and pink. Turns out they were PUMA Tricks, released specifically for the 2014 Cup. (Leave it to this fashion-forward player to be one of the first to sport the new trend.)

Another stylish player of note is Neymar (featured above), whom the Post calls “Brazil’s It boy.” With spiked blond hair and a primary-color-coordinated look, I think Neymar won the sartorial game for the World Cup – or, he would have if there were an actual competition for it.

Regardless, he and all the other soccer style pros out there serve as a good distraction from last night. You feel better already, right?

Lupita Nyong’o Adds Vogue Cover Girl to Resume

You already know Lupita Nyong’o from her Oscar-winning performance in 12 Years a Slave and her spot-on red-carpet style. And, now? You’ll be seeing her grace the cover of Vogue, too.

For her July 2014 cover shoot, the actress traveled to Marrakesh, Morocco where she was photographed by Mikael Jansson in everything from Prada and Rodarte to Proenza Schouler and Jonathan Saunders. In the accompanying interview, the 31-year-old star talks about her sudden rise to fame, saying, “It just feels like the entertainment industry exploded into my life. People who seemed so distant all of a sudden were right in front of me and recognizing me – before I recognized them!”

Now, this is one cover girl I can get behind.

Get Hip to It: Kendall Jenner Redefines the Leg Slit

It’s official – Kendall Jenner has joined the family business of snagging headlines. This past Sunday, the 18-year-old beauty stunned Toronto at the MuchMusic Video Awards with not one, but two waist-high leg slits on her long-sleeved Fausto Puglisi gown. Just minutes after she stepped onto the red carpet, the Internet was abuzz with questions: What was momager Kris’s reaction? Is this the next side boob? And how exactly do you wear it without flashing the world?

All questions aside, I say she pulled off the risqué look flawlessly.

Next Up for Supermodel Cara Delevingne? Acting

Cara Delevingne has conquered every runway from New York to Milan. Up next? The small screen. A clip of the 21-year-old’s British made-for-TV movie Timeless was just released, and it’s mesmerizing. I can’t tell if I’m simply in awe of how amazing she makes a drab polo look or if her acting is actually that good, but I’m withholding full assessment until after the June 19 premiere on the UK’s Sky Arts network.

Below, check out the supermodel’s chops for yourself. No matter what you think of her acting, I’m positive you’ll be Delevingne’d.

Runway Report: Christian Siriano Is Set to Host a Project Runway Spin-Off

After winning Project Runway season four in 2008, Christian Siriano went on to create a super-successful label designing clothing for A-list celebrities. But now he’s headed back to his reality-TV roots as one of the hosts of Threads, a new Lifetime competition series about, you guessed it, fashion design. The show will follow teen and pre-teen fashion designers showcasing their talents (and, I can only imagine, their drama).

I’ve been a huge fan of Christian since his reality-TV debut, so you can bet I’ll be glued to my flat screen every week – no matter how much teen angst is in store.

An Eye for Fashion: DVF Designs Google Glass

Let’s be honest. Aesthetically, the original Google Glass was about as appealing as $2 drugstore frames. So, basically, not the type of eyewear I’d be willing to drop $1,500 on. But when I saw Diane von Furstenberg’s take on the techy specs, well, my opinion did a complete one-eighty.

DVF Designs for Google Glass

The 68-year-old designer isn’t a newcomer to Google Glass. In fact, she was the first to feature it on a catwalk during her Spring 2013 show. And now that she’s giving it her own stylish twist, it’s actually something I could see myself wearing. The polarized shades and thick-framed lenses are reminiscent of DVF’s iconic wrap dress – functional with a dash of sexy.

Intrigued? The full DVF | Made for Glass collection launches June 23. (And I’ll be first in line.)

Melissa McCarthy Snubbed by Oscars Designers

She has us laughing until we cry, sniffing out Air Marshalls and stealing puppies, but this month, Bridesmaids actress Melissa McCarthy gets serious. It turns out, while on the hunt for the ideal Academy Awards gown back in 2012, multiple fashion bigwigs sent her packing.

“Two Oscars ago, I couldn’t find anybody to do a dress for me. I asked five or six designers – very high-level ones who make lots of dresses for people – and they all said no,” she tells Redbook. How did the famous actress take the news? Well, by showing up looking nothing short of fabulous. Oh, and launching her own plus-size clothing line.

I’m sure those designers are kicking themselves.
