Gisele Fights Off Naysayers in Under Armour’s Campaign

Gisele Bündchen is used to being scrutinized – she is a model after all. And her newest gig in Under Armour’s “I Will What I Want” campaign is no exception. Critics took issue with Gisele starring in the ads, as she is the first non-professional athlete tapped by the activewear label. But Under Armour is one step ahead of them.

In the campaign’s video, the Brazilian supermodel shows off her kickboxing skills as comments (both good and bad) flash behind her. “Gisele knows what it means to live under the microscope, amongst the noise of contradicting opinions. But will beats noise,” the brand states. Using negative comments as fuel, Gisele punches and kicks that hanging sandbag like a champ. As for her “haters”? I’m sure they’ve been silenced.

Health Beat: What’s Happening in the Get-Fit World

Consider this trio the exact opposite of leg warmers, Prancercise, and ThighMasters.

Health Beat

1. New at NYFW: Fitness Clothing

Sure, we’ve seen athletic-inspired clothing on the catwalk before. But for the first time ever a dedicated fitness brand, Athleta, will debut a line during September’s big event. And in true sporty fashion, the models are rumored to be doing everything but walking on the runway. Prep yourself for parkour, yoga, and dancing.

2. Fun Runs Are on the Rise

According to a recent report by Running USA, non-traditional running events are on the rise. Think mud, obstacles, and lots of paint. Since 2009, the number of fun-run finishers has grown from the low six figures to 4 million in 2013. And judging by the number of mud-splattered grins I see on Instagram every other week, this trend isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

3. You Can Lose Weight on Vacation

I know, I didn’t think it was possible either. But a resort located on sunny Hilton Head Island in South Carolina is all about it: Meet Hilton Head Health. Located on an 800-acre shipyard plantation, this weeklong weight-loss retreat tailors gourmet meals, fitness classes, and cooking demonstrations to each individual. Returning from vacay feeling better than when you left? Totally happening.

Check it out for yourself. Our Hilton Head Health – Hilton Head Island, SC Boutique opened Thursday, August 21, at 11AM ET.

Bold Prints, Bright Hues: Meet Your New Gym Look

Next time you’re running the trails or hitting the gym, take a look around. In case you haven’t already noticed, when it comes to athletic clothing, brights and prints are taking over. Why? They’re fun, bold, and give that extra kick of motivation. Here’s how to incorporate them into your workout.

BLG-2125-Reebok

For Women:
Pair big prints with small. Try a legging in an allover high-contrast design (you can get away with it, promise) topped with a tank in a quieter one.

For Men:
Energize your routine with masculine, tech-driven patterns. Think gradients and abstract maps on either top or bottom – never both at the same time.

Start loading up on prints and color. Our Reebok Boutique opened Wednesday, August 6, at 11AM ET.

3 Vacations That Won’t Wreck Your Fitness Resolution

Few things can ruin those “get fit” resolutions quite like a vacation. Which is funny, considering all the time you spend slaving away at the gym in preparation for it. But this year, we’re here to prove that this doesn’t have to be the case. Behold, three alternatives to your typical willpower-wrecking escape.

Lake Austin Spa Resort

1. Jet off to a fitness and wellness resort like Texas’s award-winning Lake Austin Spa Resort. You can dabble in outdoor Sun Salutations, ease sore muscles with a River Rock Massage, and stay nourished with Bon Appétit–approved low-calorie cuisine – all while thoroughly enjoying yourself.

2. Book an exotic trek. Hike the Inca Trail (there have been rumors about Machu Picchu closing for years – the time to go is now) or escape to the rainforest. Puerto Rico’s Carole’s Rainforest Villas offers hikers respite between the El Yunque National Forest’s 18 trails. And you don’t even need your passport.

3. Cruise. Yes, seriously. Where else can you find wave pools, zip lines, rock-climbing walls, mini golf, and indoor ice-skating rinks all within your reach? Today’s cruises are breaking that eat-all-day stereotype, fast. Try Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas, which actually lets you skydive on board.

Ready to book a fitness-friendly escape? Check out our Lake Austin Spa Resort Boutique, which opened January 22 at 11AM ET.
