Ruth Bader Ginsburg & Her Notorious R.B.G. Tees

And the award for coolest Supreme Court justice goes to Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Or “The Notorious R.B.G.,” as the Internet likes to call her.

A popular Tumblr, home to LOL-worthy memes and funny tidbits about the Associate Justice, created the T-shirt in honor of Ruth. Its graphic-gone-viral is an image of her face, inspired by the late rapper Biggie Smalls, a.k.a. The Notorious B.I.G. In an interview with NPR, Ruth confirmed she has indeed seen the tees and keeps a few of them around to give as gifts.

It’s comforting to know that in between sitting on the Supreme Court and advocating for women’s rights, R.B.G. still finds time for a sense of humor.

5 Musts at Art Basel 2014 (Besides the Art)

Every year, Art Basel, a week-long international art show, overflows from its Miami Beach Convention Center home base and permeates every inch of the area. Outdoor artworks are displayed in nearby parks. Music acts flock to the area. Performances spring up in random spots. Below, we’ve highlighted every Miami Beach must-do during Art Basel Week 2014 (including where to grab a little R&R away from the excitement).

Trash or Treasure? Artist Created Roses Using Shirts

Over the last several years, New York–based artist Carlton Scott Sturgill has built an unusual collection of discarded Ralph Lauren shirts. But rather than dropping them at the nearest thrift store, he turned the haul into an eco-friendly project, creating realistic rose bushes at the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn.

Designed in collaboration with Arts Gowanus and the NY Department of Transportation, Carlton’s “faux garden” features pinstriped and brightly colored roses. The floral sculpture is a bit of a contrast with its surroundings at the canalwhich is famously known as an illegal garbage dumping ground.

Now, I thought I was crafty when I turned a pair of old jeans into “jorts” last summer. After seeing this talented artist turn castoffs into works of art, I found some serious inspiration for my next DIY project. Watch out, Pinterest.

Lena Dunham Is Adapting a 90s Novel for Film

A bold new haircut. A best-selling book. Lena Dunham is on a headline-stealing roll and shows zero signs of stopping. The actress-slash-writer announced at the New York Film Festival that she’s adapting the young adult novel Catherine, Called Birdy into a film.

The book (a favorite from the 90s) is set in late-13th-century England and focuses on a twelve-year-old girl’s attempts to ditch suitors. The only catch in Lena’s plans? She seems to think the screenplay will be a tough sell to studios. “I just need to find someone who will fund a PG-13 medieval movie,” Lena said.

Wishing you luck, girl. If the movie gets made, this mega-fan will definitely be at the midnight showing.

A Cosmopolitan-Inspired Show Is Coming to NBC

That’s right. Cosmopolitan, your favorite guilty-pleasure glossy, is about to hit primetime. And (thankfully) not in the form of another reality show. Instead, this series will be a fictional comedy loosely based on life at Cosmo. The single-camera sitcom will center around a failed political blogger who restarts her career in NYC as an editor. As for the script? It will be penned by writer Leslye Headland and the magazine’s real-life editor in chief Joanna Coles.

Here’s hoping this yet-to-be-named comedy will be a little less Selfie and a little more 30 Rock.

Baby Boom: Blake Lively & Coco Rocha Are Both Expecting

Yesterday was a big day for celebrity pregnancy announcements. Coco Rocha, model and social media maven, shared her happy news with followers via an Instagram video. The camera circles Coco – who wears a nude bodysuit – until “Baby Conran Arriving Spring 2015″ flashes on the screen.

The other mom-to-be, Blake Lively, was more subtle in her approach. Buried deep at the bottom of a Preserve blog post is an image of the actress showing off her baby bump.

Could one of these bundles of joy be the next Suri Cruz? My guess is a resounding yes.

Ask Lena: Girls Star Shares Advice on YouTube

If you’ve ever questioned which friendships are worth fighting for, how loud is too loud, or whether you can wear booty shorts and still be called a feminist (answer: yes), Lena Dunham is here to set the record straight. ask-lena

In anticipation of her September 30 Not That Kind of Girl book release, the Girls star offers sage advice in a fearlessly frank video series titled Ask Lena. In each hilarious installment of the 12-part video series, she answers real questions submitted by fans. Topics range from provocative dressing to “unfunny girlfriends.”

I would highly recommend giving the show a watch to tide you over until her book release. Divvy it up at two videos a day – or if you’re a binge-watcher like me, watch them all right now.

Girl Power: Emma Watson Speaks About Feminism

Following an Ivy League education and the Harry Potter series, British actress Emma Watson is sticking up for herself – and for women around the world. As the newly appointed Women’s Ambassador of Goodwill, Emma delivered a powerful message to U.N. officials this weekend about what it means to be a feminist and who exactly should be involved in the matter (hint: everyone).

In her ten-minute speech, Emma raises important questions about gender inequality, like “Why has the word ‘feminism’ become such an unpopular one?” She also asks for our help in reversing the age-old stigma that all feminists are “anti-men,” formally extending an invitation for guys to join the conversation. This stance supports her newly launched campaign HeForShe, a solidarity movement encouraging men to join the fight for equal rights.

Already, Emma’s words have made their mark on the world (and on my Facebook news feed). She’s poised and passionate about equal rights, and I can think of no one better for the job. So boys, get involved and sign a commitment at heforshe.org. It’s your issue too.

The Latest Bey & Jay Gossip? Good News for Once

Beyoncé and Jay Z have been subjected to the rumor mill quite often lately. Are they pregnant? Divorcing? According to Dash Radio host DJ Skee, the power couple is working on a joint album to be released later this year or early next. No word on the record’s title yet, but fingers crossed that Blue Ivy will be featured on another track with her mom (and this time her dad, too).

An entire album of “Bonnie and Clyde” proportions? Yep, you’re not the only one trying to stay calm.
