Last night, Hollywood’s A-list gathered in celebration of the Academy Awards – and, while the weather may have been dismal, the fashion was anything but. The night’s best dresses? Check out my top five picks below.
For their F/W 2014 collections, designers ditched last season’s pretty pastel hues and instead turned to rich and attention-grabbing colors like burgundy and gold. But what will be the color of fall? Our fashion editor and fashion director each make a case for their favorite below.
After a steady stream of awards shows celebrating both movies and TV, last night it was all about the music industry. Forget elegant gowns and dainty jewelry – at the Grammys, the red carpet is by far the most entertaining part of the show. The fashions are a little wild (Daft Punk in helmets), a little revealing (Paris Hilton in super-sheer House of Milani) and a little unexpected (Madonna and son David in matching Ralph Lauren suits). Here are my top five picks for best dressed:
The People’s Choice Awards wasn’t even a week ago and yet we’re already on to awards show number two: the Golden Globes. With a red carpet that included everyone from Julia Roberts to Taylor Swift, my best-dressed list is a true mix of Hollywood heavyweights and a new breed of style icons.
Last night, the People’s Choice Awards kicked off what will be a steady stream of awards shows over the next few months, culminating with the Academy Awards in March. And while there were plenty of big wins (Sandra Bullock! Justin Timberlake! Britney!) and some truly hilarious speeches on stage – do yourself a favor and YouTube Ellen DeGeneres’s acceptance for Favorite Daytime TV Host – the real competition was on the red carpet.
True, the holidays are just about here. But the shopping? It’s far from over. Our Fashion Director, Jackie, put together her very own (and completely shoppable) Rue La La wish list for last-minute inspiration.
“Whether it’s cashmere or buttery leather, I love bringing a touch of luxe to a friend’s closet,” Jackie says. Shop her Rue wish list to snag giftable musts, like this Forte cashmere sweater, Franchi “Alma” silk clutch, and gorjana pyramid-studded leather wrap bracelet.
The best part? You have four more days to shop on Rue with expedited shipping for holiday delivery.

I recently realized something about myself: I’m in a hair rut. After a teenage bout with experimentation (jet black, bright red, and a bob inspired by 90210’s Kelly Taylor), I’ve played it pretty safe with my hair. But secretly, I want to be a lot bolder. I want to be one of those women who is a natural hair chameleon, who can go from a platinum asymmetrical bob to long auburn waves with ease. Some women – like Victoria Beckham, Katy Perry, Drew Barrymore, and Rachel McAdams, just to name a few – actually have this ability.
As fans of Rue know, we love it when high-end fashion becomes attainable – and with designer collaborations all the rage right now, that’s exactly what’s happening this season.
There are about a thousand tips our Fashion Director, Jackie, could offer with the onslaught of the holidays upon us. But most importantly? We want the details on how she’s going about her annual cocktail party. From updos to décor, here’s her advice for a sure-to-impress festive affair.
We all love a flirty holiday dress (or two), but to really stand out this season, I’m test-driving tuxedo suit dressing.
