Alex and Ani the Rue Way: See How 3 Associates Styled Their Stacks

We were so inspired by Alex and Ani’s own Style File that we made a mini spin-off with our associates. With tons of charms and bracelets to choose from, customization is endless. Here, three Rue ladies share the mottos and stories behind their stacks.

Alex and Ani Style

Meet Rue’s Art Director: Vanessa G.
Stack Motto: Make it meaningful.
“I love to wear a Hamsa for protection and good luck. Plus, the charm mixes in perfectly with all the different bangles and chunky rings I have.”

Meet Rue’s Assistant Fashion Editor: Kasey R.
Stack Motto: Go for the gold.
“Gold bangles go with everything. I pile them on in varying textures and sizes to add a little edge to my everyday outfits.”

Meet Rue’s Hair & Makeup Artist: Rachael B.
Stack Motto: Find the silver lining.
“I practice yoga about once a week, so I love to wear the Namaste symbol to remind me to keep calm while not on the mat.”

Our Alex and Ani Boutique opens Friday, December 13, at 11AM ET.

On Our Bookshelves: The Latest from Rue’s Book Club

Forgive us. We’re newly obsessed – not with the latest NYFW trend (although we’re partial to seafoam for spring) – but with a completely addictive, cancel-all-plans sort of book: Marisha Pessl’s thrill of a read, Night Film.

This summer, Random House graciously gifted our associates-only book club advanced reader copies of Pessl’s now New York Times bestseller (released to the public on August 20). Best known for her blockbuster debut, Special Topics in Calamity Physics, let’s just say – Pessl’s at it again.

Watch Us Work: The Rue Studio Gets a Chevron Makeover

Obsessed with all things chevron? Yeah, us too. So much so, in fact, we even dedicated an entire wall in our studio to the on-trend pattern. Get a behind-the-scenes look as Rue’s Assistant Stylist, Emma L., makes it happen – using ben® interior paint (eggshell finish) in Blanched Almond 1060 and Celestial PT-200 as the foundation colors, Deep Ochre 1048 and Fool’s Gold PT-250 as the corresponding top-coat colors, and Studio Finishes® Metallic Glaze for the stripes – for our Make It Warm & Welcoming: The Entryway Re-Do Boutique.

For all your chevron-wall needs, stop in to your local Benjamin Moore store.

Our Make It Warm & Welcoming: The Entryway Re-Do Boutique opens Monday, August 19, at 3PM ET.

It’s a Blogger’s World (We Just Live in It)

Rue associates' top picks from the blogosphere

It’s no secret: we’re kind of into blogs. Here, four Rue associates share their favorites.

“My morning go-to. The guy (Joe) who writes it gives great advice on dressing well without spending a ton of money. It’s nice to have someone else do all legwork around discovering new brands, sites, and sales.”
– Scott S., Director, New Ventures

Desire To Inspire
“This blog is run by two design-obsessed friends – one from Australia and one from Canada – who have never actually met. It’s the ultimate voyeur’s playground, plastered with big, beautiful interior and exterior photos of stunning homes all around the world.”
– Lindsay L., Editor

Cheetah is the New Black, Camille Styles, & oh joy!
“It’s a three-way tie. I love CNB’s style. Camille Styles’s recipes and home styling are great. And oh joy!’s daughter is too cute for words and a super-stylish little nugget.”
– Jessica R., Senior Digital Designer

seersucker + saddles
“This girl boldly mixes prints like nobody’s business. I regularly trawl her blog for style inspiration that’s just the right amount of preppy, edgy, and classic.”
– Chrissy M., Copywriter

We All Scream

10 Rue associates dish on their go-to ice cream toppers – what's yours?

A little insider knowledge from the Rue offices? We. Love. Food. Seriously, it’s right up there next to fashion. To celebrate this week’s Sunday Supper, we surveyed the masses for all-time favorite ice cream toppings. Read what our dessert savants had to say, then take our poll and tell us yours.

“Grape-Nuts on vanilla ice cream. So simple, and tastes like malted milk.”
–Michael D., VP, Audience Development & Syndication

“Fruity Pebbles. Pile them over fro-yo with just one sour gummy worm, and I am instantly in third grade again!”
–Kelly A., Feature Writer

“Peanut butter cups! Chocolate + peanut butter + ice cream… do I really need to say anything more? SO. GOOD.”
–Chrissy M., Copywriter

“Oreos add great texture and never get soggy.”
–Lindsay L., Editor

“There’s a small, family-owned ice cream shop in my hometown that I go to every chance I get. Vanilla with rainbow sprinkles equals summer all year long.”
–Jennifer M., Event Producer

“Bing cherries. Buy them canned, combine in a skillet with a bit of corn starch and brandy, then set it all on fire. (Seriously.) It’s an elegant – not to mention surprisingly easy – way to dress up vanilla or chocolate.”
–Joanna B., Editor

“Coconut, hands down. Because it’s sweet, creamy, and island-inspired. Plus there are health benefits, right? Right.”
–Abigail K., Editor

“Gummy worms and Oreos. Call me nostalgic, but after my first grade teacher introduced that dynamic duo to our class, there was no turning back. (And I just really loved first grade.)”
–Sarah S., Copywriter

“I love raspberries so much that sometimes I put ice cream on them.”
–Sami S., Junior Designer

“Teddy’s Super Chunky Peanut Butter because it adds amazing crunch and flavor to vanilla ice cream.”
–Kasey R., Event Producer

What's your favorite ice cream topping?
