Pint-Sized Fashion: Does North West Have a Stylist?

Playdates at the park are as grand as most toddler social calendars get. But when you’re North West and you have a front-row seat at Paris Fashion Week, you must dress the part. And no – overalls from the big-box stores won’t cut it.

Following little Nori’s string of appearances in Givenchy and Chanel, it’s rumored that she had professional help in putting together those petite designer getups. So whether or not this mini Kim Kardashian has a supposed tailor-slash-stylist, there’s no denying she might be the most haute 16-month-old on the planet.

Think Pink: Ralph Lauren’s Campaign for a Cause

A good cause and a great designer go hand in hand. And yesterday, the all-American Ralph Lauren made strides in the fight against breast cancer with the launch of the Pink Pony Fund.

On the heels of his much-talked-about 4D virtual runway show, Ralph is asking his social media audience to spread the word. Simply post a picture holding a supportive message with the hashtag #PinkPonyPromise. For every single “share,” $10 will be donated to the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

The campaign hopes to raise $1 million in just a few days. Well, his Spring 2015 show went pretty viral, and I have no doubts this will do the same.

Call It a Comeback: John Galliano Heads to Margiela

Belgian fashion house Maison Martin Margiela is known for being extremely private. But the elusive label just announced that John Galliano, one of the industry’s most in-your-face figureswill take over the creative direction of its couture and ready-to-wearIn recent years, the design team has remained completely anonymous, so hiring someone so publicly known is an unexpected move.

“Margiela is ready for a new charismatic creative soul,” Renzo Rosso, President of OTB, the parent company of Maison Martin Margiela, shared with WWD. “John Galliano is one of the greatest, undisputed talents of all time — a unique, exceptional couturier for a maison that always challenged and innovated the world of fashion. I look forward to his return to create that fashion dream that only he can create and wish him to here find his new home.”

His return to the runway at Paris Couture Week in January will definitely be closely watched. After years of untapped creativity following his departure from Christian Dior, I can only imagine how epic of a comeback it will be.

The Best-Dressed List: Looks from September 28 to October 4

EACH WEEK, OUR FASHION EDITOR DECIDES WHO DESERVES TOP HONORS

With no shortage of pint-sized style stars on the way – from Eva Chen’s Chanel-toting mini-me to Prince George’s sure-to-be-chic younger sibling – we can’t help but obsess over stylish maternity looks.

Best Dressed List

  1. Miroslava Duma showed off her baby bump in a bird-adorned Valentino cape – just one of the many luxe looks the Russian editor sported during Paris Fashion Week.
  2. Zoe Saldana, who recently confirmed she’s having twins, turned up to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’s Hollywood Costume opening party in a cotton-candy pink Christian Dior gown and matching clutch. Maybe she’s hinting at the color of the nursery…
  3. Rosamund Pike, who is expecting her second child, looked equal parts sultry and sweet mom-to-be at the world premiere of Gone Girl, thanks to a black, bow-accented Altuzzara gown with a thigh-high slit.

Snap a Selfie & Win a Freebie from Marc Jacobs

Last February, Marc Jacobs created a pop-up shop, the Daisy Marc Jacobs Tweet Shop, which allowed visitors to pay for merchandise with a social currency of sorts: a tweet or Instagram post with the hashtag #MJDaisyChain. Well, the promotion was such a success (who wouldn’t want free swag?) that the label has decided to launch another Twitter-based giveaway.

This time around, however, the Daisy Marc Jacobs Tweet Shop is moving from a brick-and-mortar store to a mobile-only platform. And they’re doing it with the help of Chitter – an app that allows users to unlock deals from nearby businesses by performing small social-based tasks, such as tweeting a bar selfie in exchange for a free drink. Marc Jacobs’s new campaign will work similarly. Participants will have to first download Chitter on their iPhone® or Android device, then open up the Marc Jacobs giveaway. From there, they’ll post a selfie to Twitter in order to win a free bottle of Marc Jacobs Daisy. The catch? Only the most creative posts will win.

BRB. Off to practice my selfie face.

Au Revoir: Peter Copping to Leave Nina Ricci

As Nina Ricci’s artistic director, Peter Copping is known for his feminine dresses and ladylike silhouettes. But yesterday, WWD confirmed that after five years with the famed French fashion house, he’ll be stepping down from his post.

The talented designer, who previously held a position at Louis Vuitton, is rumored to be heading to Oscar de la Renta. And according to rumblings within the fashion world, Guillame Henry, former creative director at Carven, may be Peter’s replacement at Nina Ricci.

As of now, it appears there are no hard feelings. In fact, Ralph Toledo, the president of Ricci’s parent company, spoke very kindly of Peter in a statement thanking him for “his commitment to Nina Ricci and his contribution to the legacy of the house.”  Ralph added that “His vision has been a major factor in the re-launch of the brand. We wish him all the best for the continuation of his career.”

So, which rumors are true? We won’t know for awhile – and until then, you can bet all eyes will be on Peter. And I personally can’t wait to see what happens next.

Stuart Weitzman’s Fall Campaign Is All About Boots

Poppy Delevingne (Cara’s equally stunning big sister) and Dylan Penn breathe fresh air into the term “biker babe” in Stuart Weitzman’s fall campaign. With fashion It girl Julia Restoin Roitfeld in the director’s seat, the video takes on a sepia-toned 60s vibe as the blondes ride on bikes and in vintage cars.

In a behind-the-scenes clip, Julia said she was inspired by vintage Playboy magazine layouts, piecing together different angles of the two models. But the main focus? Boots – including suede over-the-knee and buckled moto styles.

With a remix of Lana Del Rey’s “Ride” playing in the background, I’m totally dreaming of tagging along in a matching pair of thigh-high boots.
