Rue Project: The At-Home Art Gallery

A GUIDE TO PUTTING UP PICTURES, THREE WAYS

From type-A organized to decidedly cluttered, we like to think that a person’s wall art choices are a reflection of their personal style. And the beauty of wall art is that with a few adjustments, you can create a whole new look. So we took to Pinterest to check out three wall-hanging styles:

Simple & Straight
Inspiration: these framed fern prints.
Tip:
To keep frames perfectly in line, tape up the underside of gridded wrapping paper on the wall to use as a guide.

At Home: The Host with the Most

FIVE THINGS EVERY PARTY-THROWER SHOULD HAVE IN THEIR BACK POCKET

Whether we’re pulling out all the stops for a Gatsby-scale affair or the girls are coming over for wine and our favorite TV show, these five simple must-haves never let us down when throwing a snag-free soiree.

1. Stain remover. While we’re not certain there’s any science to back this up, red wine seems to be very attracted to the whitest of summer whites.

2. Bright (and printed) cocktail napkins. Providing an instant zap of color and style, we like to think of these as the get-together’s version of a throw pillow.

3. Vases. ‘Tis the season to come bearing fresh flowers, so we’re keeping an extra few of these on hand for any (fingers crossed!) incoming bouquets.

4. Extra serving trays. That delicious baked brie our neighbors brought over? Everyone’s got to try a bite.

5. A well-stocked bathroom. Because no partygoer wants to have to ask for a new roll of toilet paper.

With inspiring sayings and spring-fresh imagery, the spirit of Ben’s Garden is so uplifting. With that in mind, we asked Ben to walk us through the things that make him happiest in the world.

Place:
My garden, the beach – people have told me it will be Paris if I ever get there.

Color:
It’s hard to choose, although I always favor greens, like vert de terre, arsenic, and tunsgate.

At Home: Renew, Reuse, Refresh

Springify Your Space with Tips from Jonathan Yaraghi of Safavieh

With spring cleaning conquered, we’re looking at our now-tidy interiors through bright eyes. With a sense of adventure and newfound need to spring-ify our space, we turned to Principal (and design expert) at Safavieh, Jonathan Yaraghi. Here, he gives his top tips for room renewal:

Company’s Coming. Try making a conversation group more intimate. Make way for a functional ottoman or bench that gives extra seating and updates any room.

Refocus with a Rug. Without changing anything else, a new rug that picks up the colors in your fabrics is the fastest way to transform a room. It more than refreshes color — it establishes a new interior design style as well.

Go Al Fresco. Create a garden room in your backyard or patio. Use an outdoor rug to define and anchor a seating area or dining “room” in the open air. Add outdoor pillows to brighten your patio furniture.
