Bag Snob Bloggers Set to Launch Their Own Handbag Line

Tina Craig and Kelly Cook of the popular blog Bag Snob are set to launch their own line of handbags this spring, which will (appropriately) be called “Snob Essentials.” WWD reports that the line will feature crossbodies, totes, and backpacks complete with vegan leather and custom hardware. The best part? Unlike the bags the bloggers write about, their own label will be set at a completely attainable price point – as in $60 to $128. “We chose to launch at this price point because we firmly believe that money is not indicative of good taste and want to offer well-designed bags at attainable prices,” Tina told Fashionista in an interview.

Leaving Late-Night: Chelsea Handler Wraps Talk Show

After eight years of witty remarks and oft-raunchy jokes, Chelsea Handler – TV’s sole late-night comedy queen – is stepping down from her E! throne. And now, as Handler gears up to leave Chelsea Lately at the end of this year, we have so many unanswered questions. Who will fill her shoes? What will she do next? And, most importantly: Where will Chuy go?

Chelsea Handler Leaving Talk Show

According to her manager, Irving Azoff, who spoke with The Hollywood Reporter, the comedian has been actively contemplating her post–talk show career. She’s also rumored to be in negotiations with several different “suitors.” Among them? Netflix, FX, and even a few radio stations. The fate of her faithful sidekick, however, remains unknown.

Opening Day: The Next National Holiday?

Could you use another holiday away from the office? Chances are, the answer is yes. Good news – Budweiser created a petition to make Opening Day a nationally recognized holiday. And it’s already reached the minimum threshold of 100,000 signatures required to receive a response from the White House.

According to Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith, the campaign’s spokesperson, “The more than 100,000 people who signed the petition are just a fraction of the 1.3 million who will attend Opening Day games this year. The day is already an unofficial holiday, but now it’s time to make it official.”

We couldn’t agree more, Ozzie. Tell us, where do we sign?

Instant Inspiration: 5 Pinterest Boards We Can’t Get Enough Of

A Tuesday roundup of our recent Pinterest obsessions

This week, we’re breaking down exactly which trends to wear on top this spring. Next Tuesday, we’ll tackle those bottoms.

1. The crop top is here to stay. So pull out your collection – or start building one immediately.

2. Don’t freak out. There’s no football experience required to sport these varsity jackets.

3. Give the necklace a break. Embellished collars are having a much-deserved moment.

4. Chambray all day, every day? We’re cool with that.

5. The trench is timeless and chic. So we’re buying one in every color.

And This Year’s CFDA Fashion Icon Award Goes To…

Rihanna. The Council of Fashion Designers of America has just revealed that the songstress/sartorial risk taker will be honored with the 2014 Fashion Icon Award at this year’s ceremony, which takes place on June 2 in New York City. From her ever-changing hairstyles and envelope-pushing outfit choices to her philanthropic work with MAC Cosmetics’ Viva Glam campaign, the Barbadian singer’s award is, in my opinion, well-deserved.

How does CFDA CEO Steven Kolb feel about the announcement? “We are proud to present Rihanna with the CFDA Fashion Icon Award for her impact on the industry as fashion’s most exciting ambassador in recent memory,” he said.

Clearly, he and I are on the same RiRi-loving page. The only question remaining: What will she wear to the ceremony?

Brad Pitt to Star in True Detective: Yea or Nay?

When I caught word that Matthew McConaughey wouldn’t be returning for season two of True Detective, I have to admit, I panicked. However, considering the HBO show is an anthology and with each season the cast and theme changes, I should have been prepared to see McConaughey go. As for his replacement? It looks like the show might enlist the one and only Brad Pitt. But, to be honest, that’s not really easing my anguish. Or anyone else’s, it seems.

3 Reasons to Love Austin Right Now

Hot off the heels of South by Southwest, we’re not the only ones with our eyes on Texas’s music-happy city. Here’s why you should get into the mix.

Reasons to Visit Austin

Image via Lexie Moreland for WWD

#1. The music scene rocks. And not just because of this month’s ten-day SXSW music festival. Grab your cowboy boots and check out the Broken Spoke, the last authentic honky-tonk dance hall in Texas (and, in the words of the New York Times, “arguably the greatest honky-tonk of all time.”)

#2. Austin is a foodie town. Topping your to-eat list? Brisket at Franklin Barbecue. Just be prepared to show up at 8:30 and wait in line with 400 others until the hole-in-the-wall opens at 11. (It’s consistently named the best BBQ in America, so we’d say it’s worth it.)

#3. The street style rivals Brooklyn. Think that perfect mix of hipster and grunge. The style at SXSW is proof that the city’s famous “Keep Austin Weird” slogan applies to more than small businesses.

Ready to jet and need a place to stay? Settle in at Lone Star Court, a new retro-chic boutique hotel that epitomizes Austin and Texas Hill Country, then head out and explore.

Our Lone Star Court Boutique opened Wednesday, March 19, at 11AM ET
