Burgundy vs. Gold: The Great Fashion-Week Debate

For their F/W 2014 collections, designers ditched last season’s pretty pastel hues and instead turned to rich and attention-grabbing colors like burgundy and gold. But what will be the color of fall? Our fashion editor and fashion director each make a case for their favorite below.

NYFW Street Style: What We’re Seeing Outside the Tents

During Spring Fashion Week, A-line skirts were seen coming down just about every runway. And now, a short five months later, we’ve spotted the flattering skirt on several Fall Fashion Week showgoers. Seeing how the style set is putting together pieces from the season prior? That’s what NYFW street style is all about.

Burnin’ Up NYFW: Joe Jonas Named Best Dressed

It seems the former Jo-Bro can dress. Today, British GQ dubbed Joe Jonas “NYFW’s Best-Dressed Man,” which shocked us. First because, man? And second because, Joe Jonas.

But then we checked out his looks. That fresh blue suit, pulled off with plaid and scuffed boots. Those leather jackets. A try at tone-on-tone (our latest obsession). All made, dare we say, effortlessly cool.

Don’t believe us? Check it out in British GQ.

NYFW Street Style: What We’re Seeing Outside the Tents

Here at New York Fashion Week, it’s cold – and I mean really cold. So to keep warm without sacrificing style, many showgoers are turning to chic toppers. From wide-brimmed wonders to bold fedoras, here’s how NYFW street style is taking headwear to new heights.

Behind the Scenes We Go: Backstage Beauty at Meskita

From Peter Som to Richard Chai Love, the makeup looks at New York Fashion Week have been all about the eyes. And it was no different at Meskita‘s neoprene-filled runway show last night, where Bobbi Brown’s lead makeup artist, Rogelio Reyna, took the cat-eye to new levels.

NYFW: Behind the Scenes at Meskita

“We wanted to go with a 50s-meets-New-York-Barbie look,” Rogelio says, “so we just did flawless-looking skin with an extreme cat-eye.”

His tips for achieving the runway look? “Always follow your natural eye. Start at the corner of your eye, draw a little line up to the crease, do a little triangle, and follow it onto the lid itself. And then, just color within the lines.” Rogelio also recommends using Bobbi Brown’s award-winning long-wear gel eyeliner to keep your cat-eye from smearing.

As for other beauty trends this Fashion Week, Rogelio says it’s all about soft, not-overgroomed brows and a pale, almost-nude lip. Sounds like our fall beauty routines will be pretty easy – once we master this cat-eye, that is.
