While there were plenty of showstopping accessories on the BCBGMAXAZRIA runway yesterday, it was their brigade of beanies that had everyone talking. Like a cherry on a sundae, the slouchy knit hats deliciously topped off the label’s embroidered tunics and printed shifts.

It’s official: New York Fashion Week has arrived. And while next fall’s trends are making their debut on the catwalk, it’s the outfits outside the tents getting all the wear-now attention. So whether or not you’re headed to Lincoln Center, dress with the best of the street-style swans thanks to these four must-have Fashion Week pieces.

Oversized Shades
With 54 shows to go to and dozens of post-runway parties, a fashionista can’t always get the recommended seven hours of sleep – and that’s where these bag-hiding shades come in. Can you say lifesaver?

Bright Bracelets
There’s a blizzard on the way – be sure to bundle up. To add a pop of personality to your puffer, let a few bright bracelets peek out from those jacket cuffs.

A Structured Satchel
From storing your iPad and makeup to carrying between-show snacks, a big bag is a necessity. And if that bag happens to be Hermès, well, you’ve just won the entire street-style game.

An LBD
From the front row to after-show parties, the LBD is a Fashion Week must. Bonus points if you rock one (like the above) with this season’s on-trend leather insets.

Teaming up with online video platform Rightster, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week partner IMG will be live streaming all 54 shows taking place at Lincoln Center. Yes, you read that right: all 54 shows. And you can even set reminders for your favorites. For the nine shows not at Lincoln Center (some are scattered across the city), just mosey on over to new.livestream.com/madefashionweek to get your runway fix.
