Forget about size, silhouette, or season – it’s what dresses the outside of your bag that matters most. As long as it fits into one of these three categories, that is.

Prints & Patterns
Allover-flower patterns and abstract looks not right for you? Not to worry. Add drama to your handbag routine (without overdoing it) by going with a subtle check.

Bold Colors
No fall wardrobe is complete without some vibrant harvest hues. Opt for a bright orange or energetic red to bring life to the sea of black winter coats.

Always classic, it’s crucial to keep an LBB (little black bag) in your arsenal at all times. A staple black bag also elevates cozy knits, dark-wash jeans, and cashmere alike.

Whether it’s Google Glass, the Samsung GALAXY Gear watch, or Apple hiring Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts to oversee retail operations, the convergence of technology and style is apparently here. Now, as Fashionista tells us, “Wearable tech is getting a fashion-y makeover from Michael Bastian, Rachel Zoe, and more.”

Fash-Up: Rachel Zoe Takes on Wearable Technology

Zoe, Bastian, and others – including Mara Hoffman, whose design is pictured above – have paired with eBay to create limited-edition tech bracelets that double as USB chargers. Maybe it’s just us, but the charger has never looked so good.

All crystals are created equal, right? Wrong. At least, that’s what I found out after a little digging. But how can you tell the difference between a pretty glass bead and, say, a stunning Swarovski crystal? Just look for these three simple characteristics.

Shape & Appearance: All beads should be a uniform shape with the same number of facets, regardless of size.

Color: The shade of each bead is around 99.8% accurate. Meaning? They should all appear to be the same exact color, inside and out.

Logo: Look for the little swan. Since 1989, all Swarovski crystals and jewelry feature this recognizable logo.

Come winter, your shoe rack could use some updating. So move those sandals to the back row, and keep these tips in mind for filling the coveted front slots:

Winterize, winterize, winterize.
Salted sidewalks. Slushy puddles. Snowbanks. It’s almost like Mother Nature is out to ruin your shoes come winter, so protecting your kicks should be first on your to-do list. But fret not, from at-home cleaners to professional products, it’s easy to keep your suede and leather styles in tip-top condition.

Avoid Smooth Soles.
Believe it or not, rubber-grip soles are in – and not just on snow boots. From oxfords to heels, this trend is a winter lifesaver. Those treacherous ice patches can be tough to maneuver in smooth leather soles.

Go for Chunky Heels.
This winter, keep heels stacked and strong. Not only are they seriously on-trend, they also provide extra stability on slick sidewalks.
