Getting around in extreme weather can certainly be a battle, especially when you’re trying to look chic while pounding the pavement. Take a cue from the fall runways and look for of-the-moment utilitarian details (think exposed zippers and oversized pockets) to elevate the pieces you’ll wear all season.

  1. Movado “Sportivo” Watch. A sporty watch flawlessly complements your urban uniform.
  2. Rebecca Taylor Tweed Long Coat. This classic black-and-white tweed coat boasts deep front pockets that are big enough to warm cold hands and hold an extra pair of gloves.
  3. Design History Ribbed Fisherman Sweater. I want to live in warm, chunky knits all season. Comfy and cozy? Yes, please.
  4. Tom Ford “Alix” Leather Tote. Padlock your valuables to protect them from the perfect storm in the front pocket of this richly hued bag.
  5. Jimmy Choo “Youth” Waxed Suede Boot. Walk the walk in boots that already look like they’ve trudged through the snow. Tough hardware gives this pair an edge.

Celebrities favored the box clutch this week, pairing the chic handheld accessory with clean silhouettes (but bold details). These three looks, featuring geometric embroidery, three-dimensional folds, and leather accents, are equal parts classic and modern. And of course, they push boundaries in all the right ways.

Best-Dressed List

  1. Camilla Belle looked to Carolina Herrera‘s Spring 2015 Collection for an elegant red look at an event in Hollywood.
  2. Kerry Washington wore an origami-inspired Calvin Klein Collection dress for the 21st Annual Women in Hollywood celebration in Los Angeles. Her best outfit add-on (blue eyeliner) might not be what you’d expect, but she pulled it off with ease.
  3. Michelle Williams was head-to-toe perfection in Louis Vuitton at the opening of the Fondation Louis Vuitton. Edgier than her typical red-carpet fare, the combination of this whimsical-print dress with black platform boots is just right.

Ever wondered if Charlotte Olympia Dellal’s home is full of quirky accents just like her shoe designs? Well, cue the shrieks of excitement. The Coveteur was just granted exclusive access into her North Kensington London flat.

Her Charlotte Olympia label has graced the feet of shoe addicts since 2008 with all things whimsical – think coveted Kitty flats, ice cream cone heels, and sky-high gold platforms. After raiding her enviable shoe closet, The Coveteur dove into Charlotte’s newly launched Leading Lady handbag collection. Named after Old Hollywood icons like Dean, Bogart, Gable, and Astaire, the bags are geared toward the 9-to-5 set in sleek yet functional leather silhouettes.

Although the new totes and boxy top-handle bags are perfect for the office, Charlotte’s offbeat shoes are more my style. Hint, hint, Santa.

This afternoon, we remember the “guru of glamour,” designer Oscar de la Renta, who passed away Monday after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was 82 years old. According to a heartfelt note on his website, he was surrounded by friends, family, and “more than a few dogs.”

From Jackie Kennedy to Amal Clooney, Oscar has outfitted first ladies, countless red carpet attendees, and many a lucky bride. Here we’ve assembled some of our faves from his stunning body of work.

Thank you, Oscar, and may your legacy for glamour and femininity continue to live on. As the designer himself once said, “The greatest thing about fashion is that it always moves forward.”

Over the last several years, New York–based artist Carlton Scott Sturgill has built an unusual collection of discarded Ralph Lauren shirts. But rather than dropping them at the nearest thrift store, he turned the haul into an eco-friendly project, creating realistic rose bushes at the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn.

Designed in collaboration with Arts Gowanus and the NY Department of Transportation, Carlton’s “faux garden” features pinstriped and brightly colored roses. The floral sculpture is a bit of a contrast with its surroundings at the canalwhich is famously known as an illegal garbage dumping ground.

Now, I thought I was crafty when I turned a pair of old jeans into “jorts” last summer. After seeing this talented artist turn castoffs into works of art, I found some serious inspiration for my next DIY project. Watch out, Pinterest.

Kick off your morning right meow with a dose of cuteness, delivered by this iPad® video of Karl Lagerfeld’s celebrity cat Choupette. Things we’ve learned from her feature on The Coveteur? Like your average, non-fashion feline, Choupette is also captivated by shiny objects and tissue boxes. But unlike your cat, she has two personal nurses and a Shu Uemura makeup line, and she never meows (because Karl hates it).

Here’s hoping your Friday is as fabulous as Choupette’s everyday life.
